When is the last time you saw one of these?

I think last time I saw one was at a county fair around 2000.

Something similar on a belt at chick fil a earlier this week
traxxes@reddit
Probably in junior high at the mall Arcade, the guy who ran it had this 50s Grease rockabilly hair, loved his job, exchange a dollar for 4 quarters and watch him dispense coins from this thing on his belt buckle in such a cool manner.
Loose-Recognition459@reddit
There were definitely a couple arcades I saw them still in use in as late as the aughts, at least before the game credit cards came to be.
SubstantialRemove967@reddit
Had one literally growing up for my paper route. Which I walked alone. Sometimes, carrying a literal sack of loose cash when I collected for the week.
Ahhhhh, the 90s...

I grew up in a small tourist town. Every business was run by a different family. As kids we all thought of the other kids our age when we thought of the businesses in town. We all had jobs as we grew up and recognized everyone else's kid jobs the way others recognize clothes and albums our friends owned.
There was a restaurant with a game room and a bar all in there. There was a daughter who was my age that always walked around with one of those coin things strapped to her hip. SHE. WAS. ABSOLUTELY. GORGEOUS! For context, I remember her painting the sign on top of the roof once while wearing daisy dukes and a cutoff tee and laughing at the near miss accidents that kept happening at the intersection next to her. She was so pretty that no one ever had the balls to talk to her. The bartender told me she was mostly lonely.
Anyway she always gave me a flirty smile whenever I talked to her and i somewhat regret being too chicken to talk to her. I can't see that without thinking of that pretty little blond girl that was my age with the absolute sweetest personality that I could have had a bit of good clean fun hanging around with if only I hadn't been so wussy.
muhredditone@reddit
I don't even see them at drive-in restaurants much anymore. I do see them there sometimes, though. Most of them just have a card reader, and they go inside to get change for cash.
Thereminz@reddit
yeah in high school we ordered pizza one night and the delivery guy had one, but even then we were like, whoa cool (as in like oh it's so old)... oddly enough also last time i saw one of those credit card carbon copy devices was in ordering pizza too.
Ok-Street7504@reddit
Guy that runs the taco truck around the corner from my work has one.
Luder714@reddit
When I bought smokes at 16 from a gas station called Kokolene. You'd pull up, a guy outside would come up to your window, you'd ask for a pack of reds and he'd open this cabinet outside next to the pumps and grab a pack, then you'd hand hi a dollar and he'd use one of these to give you like 16 cents back.

I don't think I even see them at my local sonic anymore but they've gotten so expensive over my way that I rarely go! I know they push the app like crazy and if you don't check in as soon as you park in the designated mobile app pick up spots they come out and tell you to park somewhere else. It's like just chill out you are literally just outside of town and it takes the internet a second to connect to the app so I can check in which is another reason I don't really go there often.

I had one for the longest times. I remember having garage sales and using it and everyone wanted to buy it from me but I refused. However not sure what happened to it and I think it disappeared in a move about 12-15 years ago.

I actually ordered a cash belt just last month, and it came with a plastic version of this. It didn't have the push button to eject coins, but each slot was spring loaded and you just slide the coin out the top.

On a train growing up. I think maybe early 90’s.
CariniFluff@reddit
Good call, the train engineers on Metra (Chicago's regional commuter rail system) trains still carried those just a couple years ago (and possibly still do).
I haven't seen anyone pay for a ticket with cash in a while and they changed the zones/fees so maybe it's flat dollar amounts now, but there was definitely the last time I saw these in action.

Ice cream truck, in the 80's for sure
CariniFluff@reddit
I drove an ice cream truck in the mid 00's and only had the tray pulled from a cash register. It was the best job ever for a college student on summer break. My customers were the anti-Karen; everyone was SO happy to see me.

Delivered pizzas in college and never carried it. Almost nobody asked for coins back, but I had enough in my pocket.
I had a coworker who always carried his, which came in handy the day some guy told him to keep 4 cents like he was doing him a favor. He quickly dispensed 4 pennies and chucked them through the closing door.

I think our version of it is a leather of canvas belt with a short apron at the front with a couple of pockets for various change.

It was the year 2000. I was delivering pizzas and wore one.
Then my manager talked shit on a rainy night where I was the only driver and he told me I was making deliveries too slow while also yelling at me that he'd gotten phone calls from people that I was driving 'too fast' on their roads (the business had delivery cars with the company name and number on the side). I'd just driven by the punk rock venue where I helped friends run shows and there was a show I really wanted to go to happening. He caught me at the wrong fucking moment.
I said something that I thought was clever at the time but ended with "fuck you, I quit" and put my money pouch and that changer in OP pic on the counter and I don't think I've seen one since.
Got into the punk show for free though and got free beer all night because everyone thought it was hilarious I quit my job basically to go to a punk rock show.
Meanwhile asshole manager had to close early because when I quit he couldn't stay open. In fact, they had to close early most nights for about a month after that. The assistant manager guy kept calling me asking me if I wanted my job back and I had to keep telling him I'd start working there again if the manager stopped working there. The manager was a partial owner of the place so that was never going to happen.
