"Asian" is not that much of a thing outside of the west. East Asians might look at each other more fondly than they do at other foreigners (this is not even consistent) but they are still distinct cultures with their own history and generational conflicts among each other.

The same applies to black, which is not an actual race beyond American social constructs, and Africa is arguable the continent with the greatest genetic diversity on the planet, despite the fact that a lot of westerners would place its population into either the black or Arab basket.

There's a lot of different types of racism. I recall my AP US History teacher put it this way regarding race around the Civil War "Southerners hated the group and loved individuals, Northerners loved the group and hated individuals"

The first part has stayed true with racists in Southern Red States. Southern states are extremely racially diverse, and its where the majority of the Black population lives. You simply can not get by with "pissed off at the mere sight of black people" level racism when you have zero option but to interact with them every day of your life. You might hold some unacceptable negative views about the group as a whole, but you're going to have to be pleasant with your black coworker, grocery store cashier, your child's preschool teacher, etc.

I pop a blood vessel when people say "oh I could never visit the South, im a minority" as if it's not the most racially diverse part of the country. Like damn, I wonder how all the black and Latino people are surviving down there.
