One of my issues with 2 folding devices is when unfolded they offer dubious advantages aside from business tasks and books. Most of the content is 16:9 or even 21:9. With black bars to correct for aspect ratio you get roughly the same usable area on an outside screen or a similarly sized normal phone.
I prefer to work on a laptop and I can check e-mails on my normal phone no problem, so in my personal use case shrinks to just books. Which is not worth it in the slightest IMO.
3 Folds might change this trend with wider displays. Although I'd wait for the kinks to be ironed out. When I used Fold the crease was very noticeable.

I work in a retail store that sells phones including folding phones. I would not buy 1 if they were even half the price we sell them out. The amount we get back with issues, and screens coming away at the folding point is insane.
And if there is so much as a 1mm scratch on the body, Samsung denies the warranty for physical damage. Their repair centre is fucked to deal with also

After handling the Fold 7, I really want one. It's crazy how thin each side is. But I would NOT pay 2 grand for it. Maybe if a used one was like 4-500..
ComplexEntertainer13@reddit
Problem is that buying a folded phones is like buying used underwear. You have no idea how much shit they had to deal with from previous owners.
zxyzyxz@reddit
Speak for yourself, some people pay a premium for that shit 👀
cabbeer@reddit
yeah, I was super interested in folding phones until I realized that that ALL of them are so sensitive that you can damage the internal display with a thumbnail
Pugs-r-cool@reddit
Just FYI it doesn't damage the screen, it damages the screen protector that Samsung includes and recommends you don't remove. They even replace it for free after two years.
RollingTater@reddit
I have a oneplus fold and I've had no issues. I don't know about the samsung one, but the folded screen on the oneplus has a screen protector anyway, and the screen protector is hard enough that I can't scratch it with my nails (I just tried).
cosmin_c@reddit
I mean in this day and age not showing few scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7 is honestly insane.

Hard but brittle or soft but flexible
From pre dreadnaught battleships to folding phones
You cant exscape it

I worked at a wireless carrier for the last decade, since the adhesive change on the Fold/Flip 5 we had very little returns or DOA exchanges due to delamination. When one was returned it was usually an Apple user trying to switch and hating it for one reason or another. I've had my Fold 5 since launch and I'm typing this on it right now and the screen is exactly the same as it was day 1.
The only thing I will agree with you on is the warranty process is a bit extreme, we were required to take an additional training on submitting a warranty claim for a customer specifically for foldables because the things that would pass on a normal phone would somehow be considered out of warranty on a foldable and require an insurance claim.
electri-cute@reddit
Dude seriously? Apple user hating? The phone comes with an end date built in!
Carfar_Farcar@reddit
Go ahead and re-read the first paragraph I wrote, then think about what you typed and why it's wrong.

Samsung repair center replaced the battery on my phone for free since it was still in the three year warranty, and another battery for around 50€ on a different phone. I am pretty happy with them for now.
Plus-Candidate-2940@reddit
Yea it’s not for regular people
kongweeneverdie@reddit
Many still buy fold phone but not Samsung.
atape_1@reddit
This is really cool since the folding display is protected once folded unlike the Huawei one.
mewalkyne@reddit
What are you talking about? Both designs protect the folded displays when folded
EndlessZone123@reddit
You seem to be able to put an actual screen projector on the cover display.
logosuwu@reddit
Downside is you can't just unfold one side
SnowPenguin_@reddit
Which mean you can take a "peek" at your E-Mail with it.
EnolaGayFallout@reddit
10 people will buy this.
MobiusOne_ISAF@reddit
I'm still annoyed they dropped the under display camera. The punch out hurts the look of the internal screen so much.
Spright91@reddit
Something like this could really work well with samsung dex. Make it your all in one phone and laptop experience.
Gippy_@reddit
Looks like 10" 4:3 which is really, really good. When compared against other small tablets, the iPad Mini is 8.3" 3:2, and the Lenovo Legion Tab is 8.8" 16:10. So this trifold will be larger than those two for 16:9 video content.
7silverlights@reddit
Yeah I'm probably gonna be a sucker and get the first gen beta tester, I love stupid tech needless tech like this even if my Fold 4 gave me so many hinge issues but at least warranty was fixes where no hassle for me.
animeman59@reddit
I wonder how cases are going to work on this.
