Would be terrible if something happened to the solar panels.

The company name is Flock Safety. It is a camera setup in public by a private company to photograph license plates, and then they sell that data to law enforcement and other entities. Does this company collect any other data and also sell that data to law enforcement and/or other 3rd parties? Yes. Are 3rd parties training their AIs on that data? Most likely.

I always wondered what a drone armed with a spray paint can could do when someone was planning a heist at a bank or wherever to black out the lens. I'm guessing a solar panel being painted would also be very troublesome.
pterofactyl@reddit
If you’ve ever heard a drone fly, there’s no way you do this in or around a bank without being caught. Easier to just do it yourself with a long stick and a sponge dipped in paint
And-he-war-haul@reddit
If you've ever seen a long stick and sponge dipped in paint near a bank that isn't considered suspect. Easier to just ... Uh... Rob a different bank?
pterofactyl@reddit
Yeah better idea to go look for those banks without cameras
And-he-war-haul@reddit
If you can find them!
Harlzter@reddit
Sperms banks have lower security measures, just sayin

I've been contemplating how to mess with these Flock cameras a lot lately. A lot of them are mounted really high on street lights 30 or 40 feet in the air. Drone seems like the better option. I've heard of more rural counties experiencing stray shotgun pellets somehow hitting these cameras but obviously that gets a bit dicey in the city. Now a decent air rifle fired from a place of concealment would be much harder to track down. Better to do this from a bike or some other vehicle that is not so easy for the cameras to track.
GDogg007@reddit
They make some long distance air rifles. Some are very powerful.

Slingshot. Water balloon with paint
Mother-Pride-Fest@reddit
Create 20 tons of airborne aerosols, then strategically release them all over the planet to block out the sun, removing the light source powering the Flock cameras.
chin_waghing@reddit
It’s also unethical to pay the local street attached nominals to collect them for you under darkness

I read somewhere that they are using some high powered eBay lasers to point to the camera / camera sensors from a long distance which renders them ineffective.
Which is terrible, no one should be damaging property that does not belong to them that is also used to surveill their whereabouts and selling their information to anyone/anywhere.
Also, I read those engaging in such illegal and disruptive activities to make sure to wear proper verified/validated safety goggles that are rated for the type of laser in use to protect one’s self against laser refracts and/or reflections.

Safety 3rd!

How would one get around the fact that it’s a camera recording everything, potentially covered by other cameras?

And presumably, given the value, has a GPS tracker in it...

Outsourcing. Pay cash.

Generally held up with metal zip ties, in case you want free solar panels.
