Trying to figure out the most liked plane
Tortenthusiast@reddit
The a350 is the best passenger experience I’ve ever had, but admittedly I’ve not flown on the a380
marcincan@reddit
Totally agree !! I flew on the BA A350-1000 just an awesome trip
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
I love the A350 😍
marcincan@reddit
My Favourites to fly on are A340-300,600,A350-1000, 757-200 and The CC-130H Canadian Airforce version (one once though)
Key-Monk6159@reddit
Not sure you can get much more majestic than the 747 and can’t think of a better experience than sitting in the upper deck.
alfienoakes@reddit
Came here for this. You’re very high up! My favourite aircraft too. In my opinion the most beautiful aircraft ever built.
kennedon@reddit
I’ve only ever flown commercial and only economy, so A330. The 2 abreast seating is killer for those who like a window, like me, and it’s still being modernized (vs, say, 767s, which can feel dated). Yeah, the 350, 787, 380 are all great, but as an econo passenger, 330 all the way.
That said, the time I got bumped to business class on a 747 upper deck was incredible. Truly bucket list item and I fee so lucky.
nalc@reddit
FWIW, United has a bunch of surprisingly nice 767s with recently redone high end interiors running some of the shorter transatlantic route.
I definitely like the 767/330/340 seating arrangement more than the big boys for long haul economy, it's great to fly with your partner and have a row to yourself.
What airline did you do the 747 on? Lufthansa's current biz class is pretty dated compared to a lot of it's competitors. They're refreshing their 747-8 fleet soon with new interiors. United's 767 business class interior is significantly nicer than Lufthansa's 747, despite being twice as old of a plane.
kennedon@reddit
It was a KLM 747 before they retired them. So, dated product from everything I've heard but... as someone who has literally never (and likely never will in my life) purchase a business class airfare, it was really a once in a lifetime kind of experience.
nalc@reddit
KLM biz class in their 747-400s looks pretty nice actually. Lufthansa's 747-8 product is just dated because afaict it's the original 15 year old interior, versus KLM or United having planes that are on their 2nd or 3rd interior refresh.
I got to do it for work and it was an awesome experience but for how much a ticket cost, I'd rather spend an extra week at my destination and fly Economy.

gotta love the 330! I wish I could be you on the 747
Duckbilling2@reddit
RV-7
if you want pilot perspectives
r/flying is a good place to ask
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
RV-7 is a good one! r/flying removed it lol
Duckbilling2@reddit
You know, I'm not surprised
haha.
Thanks it was so fun
Pretty1george@reddit
Concorde was a blast.
Really enjoyed the BAe 146s
Been a 757 and 787 fan for a whole but nowadays, the a220 and a350 are nice rides
Dry_Restaurant_9526@reddit
I'm getting trained on the Sling 2 (SLG2) and I love flying it. Its powerful and responsive to commands yet super simple.
My favorite plane to fly on is the 350, its so quiet and smooth and many of the airlines that do operate it are amazing.
downwindsavage@reddit
777-300ER, it’s what gave me the bug and hopefully want to fly it one day!
AirbusAggie@reddit
Favorite airplane as a pilot has been the Embraer 175. Airbus 321NEO after that. As a passenger Dreamliner. Wish my airline would get the A350!
CT-1065@reddit
well i've not been on too many aircraft types (DH8D, E75L, C172, C206, B738, B39M all as passenger for one reason or another).
E175 probably wins though, just much more recent and more frequent and gives me the feeling of teleporting across what can be a long road day. Alternating between second and third are the Cessnas and 737s
Hoping to get on a 717, A330, and 757 at some point
Annual-Staff-1121@reddit
To fly on 777 300 ER!! Those engines make some sound!!
MrSilverWolf_@reddit
The Piper Tri Pacer, no other aircraft can beat the formidable Tri Pacer!
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
Hard to see those these days!
MrSilverWolf_@reddit
Yeah there’s like 2,000 left registered in the US I think, I have one of them :D
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
Lucky you! I’ve only ever seen one at putin bay on lake erie!
MrSilverWolf_@reddit
I’ve seen maybe 7 out in the wild, I never see them anymore which is a real shame because they are really good little airplanes
Random61504@reddit
I've only flown two planes, so there are not many options yet for me to choose, but I'll say the DA40.
woodandjeeps@reddit
I flew one a couple of times when my Seneca was getting serviced. Nice plane for sure. Very responsive and an amazing view.
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
I haven’t flown in a DA, how do you like the controls being a joystick feel?
Random61504@reddit
I love it, honestly. I've also flown a Cessna so I've used a yoke and a stick. I like pretending like I'm flying a fighter jet lol. Landing is nice though. You can basically test your arm down and just three fingers on the stick is all you need. Although sometimes there is not much space for my iPad, but that's fine, it usually fits on the side just on one leg.
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
haha steep turns gotta make you feel a rush lol
Random61504@reddit
Steep turns are a BLAST! Also really love doing soft field takeoffs and lazy eights! Once you let that nose slice through the horizon... Oh yeah man...
Magooose@reddit
I guess I’m a little nostalgic, but for me it’s the 727.
PolarWeasel@reddit
Twin Otter.
Robust, reliable, steady, great capacity, great rough field & short-takeoff and -landing abilities.
I’ve spent many hours as a backseater in Twin Otters, testing various remote sensors.
They’re not glamorous but they’ll get you where you’re going and back, and they’re absolutely fantastic as a test platform.
specialtyfaculty@reddit
787-10 Dreamliner, almost zero turbulence, amazing cabin, just a joy.
GlobalServiced@reddit
I’ll be the lame commercial guy but the B787 is a joy to be a passenger on. Regularly fly it on 9+ hour flights and the passenger experience is great between the larger windows, lower cabin altitude, and smooth and quiet ride. Still have yet to fly the A350 but hard to think it can beat the experience of the Boeing.

Spec ops Hercules. Taking the shooters to the fight at 250’
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
That’s sick! did you fly it or just a passenger?
martianfrog@reddit
Why have you excluded "to look at"? My list is too small.
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
shoot! what’s your favorite to look at?
martianfrog@reddit
Now my list is too big...
LR7465@reddit
P51 mustang
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
real
badgerpointer@reddit
Douglas DC-3 has to be up towards the top of the favorite list.
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
Agreed!
randomtask733@reddit
Only going to listmy favorite to fly on that is still in service and it is the 717 because its older siblings was designed by guys sitting at a draft table fueled by coffee and cigarettes. It is proven, safe, reliable, noisy, still uses control cables. I could keep going.
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
717 is a good one! how about one not in service?
Frequent-Cicada-2938@reddit
Grumman Mallard. It’s an airplane boat
Frequent-Cicada-2938@reddit
Grumman Mallard. Boat + airplane in one
ClearedInHot@reddit
T-38. Fast, incredibly low drag with no external stores, dead simple to fly, 720° per second roll rate, and more fun than you ever thought you could have with your clothes on.
a_plane_truth@reddit (OP)
How’d you end up flying T-38’s?
