Pulled it out of a field near Victorville a few years back. Dragged it to Texas last year, and finally getting to work on it regularly.

I am becoming convinced that International Diamond I-6 motors are peak engine design. The SD 220 in my '50 is all original and runs like a sewing machine.

Agreed. This thing wanted to run. I just gave it a little nudge.

That's not needed, right?
I pulled it so I could muscle the motor over by hand early on. It wasn't stuck, but definitely gritty enough that it probably would have killed the starter.
Also allowed me to flush the rad, the motor, and test the thermostat. Next step is to get it all back together.

Nice , gonna keep that patina ?

Most likely. I go back and forth on the plan though. The Crown Vic in the one pic was going to be a parts car for this truck, but now I think I'll keep it original-ish for now.
The "patina" leaves a little to be desired. I think it was taken off the road in the 90s (last CA registration) for paint. It was sanded and primed, but clearly never finished. so it's pretty patchy of random colors and primer grey.

I know everyone hates on Maaco, but for ~$1000 you could get a nice color on this. I’d personally go for olive green or a 50s seafoam metallic

If I was going to throw some color on it, it'd probably be a 2 tone white and blue similar to the interior.

I looked up the original sales brochures, and they had some interesting different ways of doing two tone paint with those body lines. It’s a rad truck!

But can you drive it without falling through the floor?
Malarky3113@reddit (OP)
It looks way worse than it actually is. It's a California truck, so it's mostly cosmetic. Interior with eventually get some rust converter, a little bit of welding, and some type of textured coating. Currently the windshield seal leaks, so no sense it fixing the floor at this point. We'll get there.
