During a monthly maintenance run of my Predator generator I noticed that the battery was no longer able to start the generator. Pulled the battery and put it on a trickle charger. Will reinstall it next month, as the charger shows the battery is healthy.
Filled one of my propane tanks.
Rotated some packaged food this week and placed replacements on my grocery list.
Ran the natural gas furnace for the first time this season- just to make sure it was working before the first cold snap happens.
Winter is coming…

Filled my deep pantry up with canned goods, got a several months worth of

I just bought a new EDC/Gobag backpack I've been eyeing for a while! It's the Ctactical CT21 in their "slick" version (without the external molle)
And I also ordered a pair of composite-toe sneakers I'm hoping will be comfortable enough for daily use (I work in a warehouse, so I'm used to wearing steel-toe shoes for 8-9 hours a day)

Currently doing a pantry dry run. I want to see how long 2 months of food lasts in the field. Will report back.
ky-hikes@reddit
started working on our 2026 weekly stockpile plan 😎
JRHLowdown3@reddit
Gone a bunch lately training. Drove about 8 hours last week to various combatives classes and events. Trained and sparred on the mats, on the ground in a park, worked with and against knives, striking and a large amount of grappling.
Working on some projects with some "friends" including finishing up a greenhouse and doing some renovations at our range.
EmielioPrado@reddit
Bought this one and filled it up!

Please excuse my ignorance 🙏
I was considering doing this exact same thing until I realized I have nearly zero use for the majority of these sizes. Is the plan to wire them in series or parallel if certain voltages are needed?
I’m currently trying to figure out how to lightly prepare while living inner-city. Thinking about making a post for this to ask for advice.
EmielioPrado@reddit
I filled up the AA and AAA and looked for some flat cells to fill up the rest since i also dont use D and C
fenuxjde@reddit
I've got a slightly larger one that zips and has foam in it and I tell you it has made life so much more convenient! It has slots for button batteries and a tester and now I never have to worry about finding batteries!
EmielioPrado@reddit
That was exactly my idea

I Freeze dried 28 bell peppers. Put 25 pounds of lentils in Mylar bags! Going to freeze dry 120 eggs tomorrow!

I have a mobile/portable base UHF/VHF Ham radio and the needed accessories en route.
I went with the BTech UV-25X4. It's small (I don't have a lot of space in my work car), and since it's only 25 watts, it can run off the cigarette lighter port...in fact, it ships with the lighter adapter as it's primary power cord.
I can use it on the lighter port on my Bluetti power station. Hook it up to a N9TAX roll-up slim-jim antenna, and use it as a base. Best part is that it's portable.

I focused on organizing my emergency food stockpile, adding a few extra items to ensure variety. Also, tested out my backup power systems to make sure everything's ready for winter.
wihaw44@reddit
This week I checked my emergency supplies, rotated water storage, and finally got around to organizing my first-aid kit.
Academic_1989@reddit
Packed away the sale leggings and jeans I ordered for the BOB and ordered tunic sweatshirts to pack up next week - part of the change of season bug-out emergency bag update.
Did the monthly generator and RV checks, ordered jerry cans on sale - now have enough emergency fuel storage to get to our youngest child who lives alone.
Did tons of cooking and freezing - took advantage of meat sales and made bulk pozole, sweet potato and pork stew, pork carnitas, and chicken for freezing and easy re-heating as well as Tuesday emergencies.
Ordered more seeds and planted more winter lettuce.
Many-Health-1673@reddit
Finished putting up the rest of the deer blinds.
Cut up firewood to season for 2 years from now.
Cleaned and prepped the tractors for the winter.
Sold a cow that prolapsed on Sunday.
Organized the shooting range targets for the winter.
Past-Lychee-9570@reddit
You mean sold for.. Slaughter?
Many-Health-1673@reddit
Yes, for slaughter. I suppose someone could buy her and put her back in a herd. She still had the vaginal stitches in place and we told the auction house she had prolapsed.
98G3LRU@reddit
Had key fob battery replaced for one car, bought spare batteries for the rest. With winter coming on, I know it's a real pain to have to use a key on a frozen car door.

Also, I took delivery on some extra (gun) magazines i had ordered. S&W sure is proud of their product. Lol

Got a membership for Sam's club this week cause there's some provisions I've wanted to stock up on and bulk will make it easier when the budget allows. Added a couple more cans of green beans, chicken, tuna, beans, and another bag of quinoa to the deep pantry I've been working on. Have also been cracking down on my budgeting bc budgeting is probably a top three prep and I fell off for a little bit there. Also excited to reorganize later in the week!

My wife put 9 cabbage heads in a barrel for sauerkraut making. I vacuum sealed flour, rice, cereal and non-fat milk. Also tested the battery backup, well it was the power company ... they did a Halloween prank at 8:00 p.m. by the grid being down for about a minute and the system kicked in and worked as intended
Cute-Consequence-184@reddit
Picked up an extra 100lb propane tank
Hot-Profession4091@reddit
I organized a miniature food drive with my radio club. Connecting one community to another is always a preparedness win.
CotesDuRhone2012@reddit
as every week: trained the dog
this week: ordered more red vine
KJHagen@reddit
I tested my portable generator. It gets harder to start each time, but eventually started.
Puzzleheaded_Ebb2066@reddit
Bought a multitool off of eBay and bought some food. Planning and organizing too.
FireZoneBlitz@reddit
Follow up to last week - I cleaned the carburetor on my generator because it wasn’t starting. This week I bought a spare for $26 so that I can get up and running quickly if there’s an issue again.
OldSchoolPrepper@reddit
still working on seed collection (OP, Heritage or Heirloom only), adding a concrete floor to an outbuilding to make it a good workshop with a solid floor....can always make it into Barrick's for family & friends if necessary (we are the BOL) and bought wood stove pipe to move a wood stove into the space for winter heat.
ny_icequeen@reddit
Went through my pantry & rotated. Went to basement to check stash. Food sales are starting for Thanksgiving especially canned goods so this is normally when I grab those.
joshak3@reddit
My unsuccessful prep was that I wanted to plant garlic for the first time, but when I called places that sell seed garlic they all told me they carry it earlier in the season, never this late.
So my successful prep was to mark that on my homesteading calendar for next year so I know when to buy it. One place said they sell it in August, which was a real surprise because here it's not recommended for planting until late October.
Optimal-Summer-236@reddit
yes we all order garlic in sept and October its ok next year you will know. Also a lot or us order all of our seeds in december and january especially the more popular ones. Don’t get me started on seed potatoes
NovelPermission634@reddit
Yes I am actually buying seeds as soon as possible this year. I have a large hoard of seeds but I bought greenstalks so I am looking at dwarf tomatoes specifically. Crossing my fingers it works out well! I've read good things about them.
Optimal-Summer-236@reddit
oh, I’ve have a green stock. Yeah you can grow tomatoes in them. Tomatoes. Take up a lot of energy though so just make sure you fertilize them very often and I think a green stock has six compartments for each tier. Don’t put too many tomatoes in each level.
NovelPermission634@reddit
Thank you!

I have a comfortable amount of food so we have reached maintenance mode. I spent this week shopping for the food bank my kids volunteer at. They have a little free pantry and they have a hard time keeping it filled.
I organized and made a much more detailed pantry inventory. Going from a general 100lbs of pasta to how many lbs of each type. I got a small note book for tracking what we use, which is then our grocery list.
I'm trying to move to a monthly grocery shop but I worry with shortages that might backfire a little bit.
I am waiting for my greenstalks which I ordered a few weeks ago during the warehouse sale. My family is trying to move right now but the market sucks and I'm preparing to be there longer than expected. We have a garden, chickens, bees fruit trees and bushes. We have more than a lot of people but I want multiple acres.
ArcaneLuxian@reddit
Harvested more wild radish. Finished leveling the area for the chicken coop. Repacked my tornado go bag. Bought a new thigh holster for open carrying needs.
Cheap_Cap760@reddit
Processed 23 chickens, made 9.5qts bone broth from the carcasses, freeze dried 3.5# of the meat scraps. Lots of unsuccessful hunting. Brought a face cord of wood inside. Getting ready for the short days and long nights
Ryan_e3p@reddit
In "maintenance mode." That's an amazing feeling. Food, water, shelter, power covered. Just doing inventory, and the odd bit of adding on to things here and there ($25 extra spent just topping things up, an extra LiFePO4 battery for the home solar backup, things like that).
Planning for the spring growing season. I can start indoors soon with the grow lights.
Prestigious_Yak8551@reddit
I am happy with the amount of food, water, and backup power I have right now. but my "mini offline internet" project, which is more of a data hoarding project now, is powering along. Its a bit of a hobby for me actually - I get a lot of enjoyment out of my collection. And bonus: data takes up practically no space! Also getting the car serviced at the end of the month.
andyareyouok@reddit
Can you elaborate on what the project is? What kind of data and content are you downloading? Sounds interesting!
chill_tonic@reddit
You can locally store all of wikipedia, Project Gutenberg books, open text books, guides, etc. Data categorization examples include references, engineering, science, medicine, computing, homesteading, maps, and media.
Since extracting this info from LLMs has become very efficient for many people, it's possible to train a local/offline LLM on your personal data source
Heamora@reddit
Focused on pantry essentials, rotated my food stocks and added canned proteins. Also parcticed fire-making skills and scheduled a dental checkup.
Dangerous-School2958@reddit
Nothing… but this week, Winter tires were going to go on today, but that’ll be tomorrow instead. 20% chance of rain? Yeah right… Winter car prep, with windshield fluid getting the winter version added, and car edc getting its winter additions added.
