The girl and the GOAT

I work estate sales, so we come across classic cars… not infrequently. This poor thing is currently more rat piss than it is a car, and I’m massively in over my head, as far as anything is concerned, but the GTO has been my dream car since before I could drive, and the price is… let’s just say I’ve seen burnt out frames selling for more than this one. (You don’t need to tell me, free kittens always cost more than the ones you pay for.)
The only question now is, how do I get it out of this barn??

Nice score! FYI thepartsplacein.com is a good place for parts, tend to be cheaper then the usual options in my experience!

Haha, caught the Chicago reference.
Dig it out, see if the tires will hold air, and use a jack to get the car off the blocks.
Rent a U-Haul and trailer, get a buddy to help you load it, and you’re home free!
Good find, should be an awesome project.

I rented a car hauler from U-Haul and towed my 68 Camaro home. My Camaro ran but just not a great idea until you can go through some things. We should be friends

Those rear tyres tell me it may not be stock under the bonnet. Keep an eye out for parts that seem out of place, take pictures of them, and research what they are and if they're worth keeping/restoring/selling/etc.

The interior is going to be the big question mark. If there's rodents in the zone, you can likely write off the upholstery off the bat. The interior wiring may be chewed up too. The good news is that upholstery work is cheaper than the cost of good body work, and wiring in these is pretty simple compared to a modern car.
Good luck! It's going to be a lot of work, but what a dream find. Mid-60s Pontiacs are my favorite classic American cars.

Oh, the upholstery is toast. (And the headliner, and…) but the one thing I can do very confidently, is sew frequently unusual things. So that’s actually one thing I absolutely know I can deal with, at least.

Save the wrecked seat covers to measure and model the new upholstery on - I’d personally go for a nice vinyl with cloth inserts.
They do make full interior kits for these that you can swap right in, matching carpet and all included.

Rad car. I want that bike in the background.

Be sure to hunt about in that horde to find any missing parts, emblems, chrome etc etc. I guarentee its all stuffed in places you wont believe

Parts are easy to find and that should be a good investment too!

Looks like it's on blocks and the wheels are off the floor. It you clean out around and under it, you should be able to lower it to the ground with a regular jack and roll it out. Spin the wheels before you put it on the ground, though. If there are any stuck brake calipers or drums, it'll be easier to fix it while the car is still in the air. If you can't fix the brakes now, buy one of those low-profile dollies to put under the stuck wheel.
