I brought an old friend home today

I owned this car 12 years ago as a kid. Couldn’t afford to properly maintain the big turbo engine it had. I sold it to a friend and have regretted it every day since. I finally got the call that he was ready to sell it back.
I’ve got my work cut out for me, I need to unswap the SBC, and source another t2 drivetrain. But I’m very happy to have an rx7 in the driveway again.

By the time those were cheap enough for me I had moved on to Miata’s. Now they are both expensive.
Good luck on your search for a drivetrain!

Funny enough, I traded a 1.6 Miata for this car and drove it home. It had its pile of issues but it was a running big turbo t2 at the time. Certainly not a trade you’d see today.

That is a crazy trade by today's standards. I had an FB, it was my first sports car. I loved that thing so much.

some people dont know what they have when they got it lol, a miata, at best is like 10-12k, and thats for a spotless example, really. you won't find a first gen revival challenger for that much lmao

passed on an fc last year with a decent rb25 swap

Man, i wish i could find another cheap and clean one. My first spent more time in pieces than running and the interior was brittle af, but that was the most go cart-like car i drove when i was young. I swapped a ca18det into mine after the rotary broke for like the 10th time. Got it running and driving with the nissan engine for a month, but i messed up the wiring harness and gave up. I wish i had kept it longer.

This one I will basically have to redo from the ground up. It was cheap because of the deal I made years ago, but getting it right will be expensive in the long run. Finding clean shells, even n/a is getting harder though.

Stick with it! Will be a lovely comeback.

I love FCs. Id want a 20b in it.

FC being fastback coupe?
Trogasarus@reddit
Fc is the chassis code for this car. The rx7 before was FB and believe it or not, the one after was FD.

Haha thanks for the reply!

That would be extremely cool but those engines are silly expensive now.

Back in 2020 I sold my first project car, a 1975 Duster. Sometimes I wake up shaking and in a cold sweat, thinking that it's back.
I own another mid-seventies mopar A body now, which is arguably in worse shape and yet hasn't fought me every step of the way, so I think it may want to live.
