Building my first k motor, how does this look?

Has a tiny chip by the coolant stopper which I’m taking out, and the 4th cylinder has a different pattern compared to the first 3, more planning on a tame build (forged internals and upgraded pump, maybe shooting for 500 whp on a boosted build, honing and balancing but no extra sleeves, maybe a block guard but many mixed opinions). Is this block still good for a build from the chip (2nd photo) and wear patterns, or should I source something different for the block? This is a k24a4 bottom end, besides this everything else looked great, even the crank looked really good.

That was an abused engine and gremlins are more likely to show up in the future because of it

Looks like it’s missing 4 cylinders
Melodic__Protection@reddit
Looks like it has 4, it came with 4, 4=4 with no discrepancies, how is it missing 4?

It was a joke

If you was aiming for 330whp, like most off the shelf supercharger kits do, it would be fine. Hone&build. 500? Block looks fine, sleeve chip might affect your head gasket but I doubt it. Get it decked and while they have it, have them precisely hone it for you, and make sure you get tight piston rings. These like oil or no oil, gas as oil will kill it.

Get it decked and the “chip” should be fine.
Cyl 4 is scored all to hell, but a good machine shop can fix it.

Worst case, that might need a new liner for cyl 4, you can spend the money to either figure it out or put that towards another $400 k24a3/4. That’s not going to hone out in your favor. The chip is whatever, I’d give it a little grind to smooth the edges and remove any stressors if you decide to keep it.
If you are removing something that looks like the picture I attached, it’s needed in the k24a2 and z3 heads and tsx head gasket. If you go with a k20a2 head or similar you can remove it and use a crv head gasket.
For 500hp you don’t need a guard or anything, it’ll take that no problem. If you do a block guard they’ll machine the chipped area anyway

I would have a machine shop look it over.

IDK shit about building engines but cylinder 4 looks fucked and I wouldn't put that motor in my car but you do you
Lanpoop@reddit
Ya know, I’m one to use shitty things. I’ve built parking lot engines before, and done some sketchy stuff but I would take that in. Maybe oversize? I am not too familiar with boost but it dont look like it’ll hold very long…
Analog_Hobbit@reddit
I used to machine parts for the die that makes these. Cool.
RileyDream@reddit
If you’re building it right, I’d get it decked. If it were mine, I’d just run it.

Gap the piston rings right so that all the extra combustion heat from the turbo doesn't swell the rings u til they meet and fuck up your piston and bore. Particularly on that #4 cylinder i think maybe that cylinder could be running hotter and need a little extra ring gap just in case.

Bring that shit to a machine shop lmao
