Interesting choice of chase plane...š¤
Few-Dance-7157@reddit
440 knots for under $80k ššš
PomeloHour257@reddit
100k to fix it.Ā
LeatherRole2297@reddit
Concur! -29, like, why? Vastly more modern choices with speed envelope wider in both directions and far better loiter time. Donāt get it. Maybe it was an alternate chase?
decollimate28@reddit
Iām not sure what you think theyāre chasing but they donāt need any of that for that drone
G8M8N8@reddit
Anduril is a young private contractor. They donāt have the blank cheque yet for frivolous purchases like Skunkworks & CO.
Nighthawk-FPV@reddit
Even Lockheed Martin used a Piper Navajo to test launch their CMMT missiles
Jorfogit@reddit
Anduril is funded by Peter Theil, the devil himself. They might as well have infinite money.
MoistFW190@reddit
And then Palmer Luckey just looks like a villain from a cartoon

L-29s are cheap as hell for a jet.
ResortMain780@reddit
Im not sure I see the point; it can carry 2 amraams externally, so its not stealthy. Its also not fast and presumably has limited range. Can it even refuel in flight? Its not cheap enough to be expandable. A murder hornet can carry 10 armraams, a F15EX even 12. Is this going to be significantly more than 5-6x cheaper to buy, operate and maintain? Seems doubtful. And even if it is, you still only matched the missile carrying capability per dollar, you also lose all the other capabilities of a multirole fighter.
Phirane@reddit
Is this really the best airframe they could come up with without the limitations of a human pilot in 2025? Looks like a trainer without a cockpit
wehooper4@reddit
And is that a bad thing? These are supposed to be cheap, not sexy
TypicalBlox@reddit
yeah everyone shits on anduril but I am a fan of their ācheap & mass producibleā mindset, this is what we need now.
Time_Restaurant5480@reddit
Because this is supposed to be a stealthly design and I don't see any weapons bay? Maybe that's why they're being shat on?
BreathOther@reddit
The robot plane doesnāt need the highest level of stealth if itās 100 miles away from the bomb truck
stupidpower@reddit
I am not exactly sure how removing the flesh will make things dramatically different for aerodynamics? The human and the human interfaces are not exactly that heavy in the grand scheme of things, you still run into the same issues trying to put the computers somewhere sensible that wouldnāt get in the way of aero, and that place is still between the engines and the radar.
Glass-Helicopter-126@reddit
Highly recommend the Rogan podcast with Anduril CEO Palmer Luckey. He's, uh, not what I expected.Ā
Tight-Acanthaceae-84@reddit
Yeah he's an interesting and passionate guy that is clearly intelligent. People just hate him for his politics. He is very inspiring to say the least.
Time_Restaurant5480@reddit
People in the know don't like him because he overpromises and underdelivers. Where's any of his company's in-house designs? I don't see any in service yet.
This CCA is supposed to be a stealthy combat aircraft, yet I don't see a weapons bay anywhere.
There was also in infamous rectangle-shaped torpedo.
BreathOther@reddit
Tower, ghost, roadrunner, and anvil are all in house and in service

So this is Skynet Kitty Hawk?

The fuck is up with all of this American military/surveillance stuff having LOTR names?
NPRdude@reddit
Fucking Peter Thiel. He literally named his invasion of privacy surveillance company Palantir, because heās a fucking asshole who needs to be tossed into the sun.
Time_Restaurant5480@reddit
Yeah, him. Doesn't get the books at all...although given that in the books the Dark Lord uses the Palantier to ensnare one of the good guys and drive another to suicidal despair, his company isn't entirely wrongly named.
Derp800@reddit
Where does the payload go?
Time_Restaurant5480@reddit
Good question. This is why every professional aqusitions guy considers Andruil a scam.
d_e_u_s@reddit
It doesn't have internal weapons bays, it carries two AMRAAMs on external hardpoints š„

AI on the vert is giving me Skynet vibes
zoinkability@reddit
Given itās Thiel company, who is essentially the foremost proponent of making Skynet a template rather than a warning, you arenāt wrong
luvsads@reddit
Which is Thiels company? Anduril Fury and Kratos Valkryie will be running Shield AI Hivemind. He doesn't own any of those, does he?
zoinkability@reddit
He owns a major stake in it via his investments
aiusernamegen@reddit
Don't worry.
"In a 2024 interview, Luckey described himself as a "radical Zionist". Palmer intends for Israel to deploy an entire fleet of his company's autonomous weapons in the future, including via billion dollar aid packages delivered from Anduril itself."

I think its Chinese counterpart should be the FH-97.

For a moment I thought I was looking at a drone F-16 with its canopy removed.
Also some interesting design hints in there if somebody ever thought of 'modernising' the F-16 towards a more stealthy variant.
