Seriously shit: I'm having a house built with a pond in the back. From the bedroom, I'll have shots over the pond to the woods 125-300 yards. I'm for sure going to shoot from the bedroom. My wife hates fun. How hard is it to mask the gunpowder smell?

Get a high powered air rifle
YFWindustries@reddit
a note: there is a very large difference in sound between shooting with the muzzle out the window and in the room with you.
sdmfer1981@reddit
It'll be suppressed shooting always. Still loud but manageable.
YFWindustries@reddit
i was shooting suppressed when I figured this one out š
sdmfer1981@reddit
I will definitely keep that in mind then. I think I'd stay away from the 308 then.
No_More_Names@reddit
just dont have any loose paperwork or poorly secured wall decorations anywhere near that window lol.
Timmerdogg@reddit
Get a toilet paper tube, put a dryer sheet inside. Take another dryer sheet and cover the end and secure that with a rubber band. Problem solved my friend.

College me knows a spoof

Build a deck/patio off the bedroom.
sdmfer1981@reddit
It's on second floor. Too far along to change plans. I may just use air purifiers and fans.
WASRmelon_white_claw@reddit
Could you make the top of the house an āobservation deckā instead of building a deck off the structure?
skunimatrix@reddit
Hang these around to get rid of the smell: https://www.hoppes.com/accessories-2/no.-9-air-freshener-3-pack/HO-H9AF3.html
Sneaux96@reddit
Gaslighting her into thinking there's no smell is way easier than trying to hide it
sdmfer1981@reddit
I can accuse her of having a stroke. I like it.

I've never had any gun powder smell from shooting, whether that's on my clothes, skin, or from inside the house in any way. Wife has never commented on it either and she has a keen nose.
You should be fine!
sdmfer1981@reddit
This was the only answer I was willing to accept. Thank you.
bmoarpirate@reddit
Best way to mask it is to always smell like it
No_Remedii@reddit
Gunpowder scented candles

I like what I'm hearing

Real question, are those stocks worth the money? i wanna grab one for my rossi rs22
xenophonthethird@reddit
I guess you're gonna have to stop kissing every unjacketed 22lr round as you load them.
Jim-Kardashian@reddit
As long as itās not an indoor range!
dreadeddrifter@reddit
6.1 is fine, that scale is meant for people with absolutely no lead exposure. I work with it and they wont even mention it unless it gets above 15, and even then they won't even do anything about it until it hits 30.
It's clearly a sign you're not doing something right, but it's hardly dangerous.
alrashid2@reddit (OP)
Exactly what I thought and my doctor said the same thing. It won't stop me from shooting and having fun lol.

Does your water come from a well? If so definitely have it tested.
FunnymanEcho@reddit
If ur genuinely concerned wear a cloth mask during suppressed fire
For the most part best thing u can do is shower after shooting, bring d-lead wipes/handwash with u to the range and scrub them mitts
True story since i am immunocompromised now i have a higher likelihood of getting lead poisoning yet last time they tested me i was gucci, just scrub a dub dub fam

Your other post is right below this one in my feed. The duality of man lol.
alrashid2@reddit (OP)
Hope I brought you some Halloween joy with my blood
ad895@reddit
Lol, I guess technically yes since I now have a test scheduled for tomorrow. Get to see if I officially have super powers.
gguy128@reddit
My level is twice the āacceptableā rate but they donāt recommend treatment until closer to 10x the acceptable rate. I have no idea if itās from guns but Iām going to check annually to make sure itās not going up.
rigat0ni_p0ny@reddit
Itās probably not from guns. I shoot about 10k rounds per year, mostly F/A with a high backpressure can. I usually camp out so I donāt wash my hands before eating after doing it either. My lead levels are normal. You might want to check for other sources.
gguy128@reddit
That's my guess too but now I have a baseline. Even if it's not guns it'll be good to know if things are getting worse or not. Worth the $50 test to me.
Coders_REACT_To_JS@reddit
Start donating blood and plasma to offload it to some other poor chump.
YFWindustries@reddit
no shit pectin-based THC gummies could reduce lead levels
alrashid2@reddit (OP)
God imagine how high my levels would be if I wasn't eating eddies!!!!

What if your filter is an old one with party fibers?
