looks cool, but it does not look like it would clear the water?
Not moving fast enough to centrifuge the water off, when the blade goes vertical the water would run down the windshield, and then get picked up again when the blade rotates to the bottom. The cycle reverse when under speed and the wind blowing drops up the glass rather than gravity taking it down.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have a high velocity acrylic sheet in front of the window and let centrifugal force clear it with this design? That's what they do with cameras in the rain
Center window motored wipers is a real thing on ships and some locomotives in snowy areas. However, instead of actual wipers, there is a window (glass or polycarbonate) that spins at hundreds, if not thousands, of RPM. The spinning centrifugal forces spin the water, snow, ice, bugs, and anything else away to allow fora 'Clear View' which is what the system is called. Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/toolgifs/comments/1npamsx/clear_view_screen/
*Centripetal, and no. Centripetal force is the inward force an object experiences to keep it on a circular path. In this case it's just inertia. The droplets want to go in a straight line, the window is spinning.
The one shown above is Called DAF Aero 3000.
There is a Mercedes Version around somwhere, easily identifiable by the "vertical spoilers" (and the pretty obvious Mercedes Logo)
and then another version Called the Colani Spitzer Silo. No idea what it is based on
Yeah Colani was wild. I believe the original version of this semi truck was a Mercedes, so the triple wiper was reminiscent of the Mercedes Star as well

You look at that truck and you say weird wiper ? Lmfaoooo

I remember seeing a movie when I was a kid called The Big Bus. This kinda reminds me of what I remember there. That's funny

Swift will have fun putting one of these in a ditch

Just to add, I've also seen these on CNC machines where there's so much coolant flying around that windows would otherwise just turn white
neophlegm@reddit
The fact these aren't called spindows is a tragedy

I can only imagine what it's like in the universe where everything was named by the guy who named the walkie talkie.

I've seen that on cameras for outdoor broadcasting. Super neat how it works.
ScorpioOmega@reddit
That could’ve been on the Highwayman (1987) with the trucks designed / built by Jon Ward
Confident_Shock_3178@reddit
So you are looking at the wipers when the truck looks like that?
OKB-1@reddit
I know this truck was designed by Luigi Colani, but does anyone know what this model is called and how many have been made?
redditmcfreddit@reddit
There is no single "Colani-Truck"

The famous Luigi Colani truck. I have seen it on the road. A great piece of art.
Dripping_Wet_Owl@reddit
Saw this thing driving g past when I was on my way to school when I was like 8 years old.
I had no way of documenting it or to look it up... and, understandably, nobody believed me when I told them I saw a truck from the future.
ThatMBR42@reddit
Luigi Colani was on something, let me tell you.

Always thought these looked real nice to drive, for a semi anyway
