An '65 Corvette Convertible isn't that weird, but this one has 3.500 pennies glued on it. Not a lightweight special... It even has a dollar sign on the front and the word 'Corvette' on the back in slightly different coloured pennies.
The car will be sold at auction soon.

The weight of 3500 1 cent coins is 8.75 kilograms.
Add in the weight of the glue and clearcoat it's probably only around 12 kilograms extra

the pennies don't bother me. But that front bumper being crooked annoys the hell out of me. As does the exhaust not being centered in the bumper cutouts.
connecting1409@reddit
And the bumpers being red. WHY THE FUCK ARE THE BUMPERS RED?
accidental-poet@reddit
Everything about the destruction of this once beautiful car is "WHY THE FUCK!?!"
ShiggitySwiggity@reddit
You should always ask two questions.
"Can I?" and "Should I?"
This guy only asked the first.

The boot/trunk lid is a great example of why you should always tile from the centre and not start at the side
qning@reddit
It looks like they started on the passenger side, got to the middle and recognized the problem. Did their best to fix it. Carried onward but the other side worked fine because well what you just said.
e136@reddit
Really? I was going to say it looks like they started on the driver side. If we can't tell, I guess it's really not that bad
Feisty_Park1424@reddit
They 100% started on the driver's, left, C of Corvette side
fattynuggetz@reddit
Cheapest paint job I ever saw
dabluebunny@reddit
I guess they don't shop at Aldi's
bfastofchampions@reddit
I literally just saw this car at Mecum in Dallas/Ft. Worth… It’s just as dumb in person…
eastamerica@reddit
Honestly, it’s awful. But I love it.
delicate10drills@reddit
That’s heavy, Doc.
RadRimmer9000@reddit
It could have 1 million worth of pennies and it still wouldn't be worth much.
If you have a rare car it's not wise to modify it to the point of not being able to bring it back to stock.

A few questions for the owner;
danattana@reddit
Regarding your last three, the body is fiberglass, so warping and rusting shouldn't be issues, and it's my understanding that dropping ~any~ 10mm socket on ~any~ surface yields that same result, so no change? (pun 100% intended... <—that one, two)

Sealer.
Icy-Barracuda-5409@reddit
You can buy this for pennies on the dollar
IlluminatedPickle@reddit
I imagine that if you crashed, it would sound like a pocket full of coins being jiggled.
Dependent_Grass9758@reddit
Imagine how much weight this added, converting it to a copper looking turd
Siray@reddit
19.4 lbs of pennies.
Dependent_Grass9758@reddit
No way 3500 Pennie’s are covering this car
1965 Corvette: ~250 sq ft surface Pennies needed: ~81,500 Weight (modern 2.5 g coins): ~449 lb
fishsticks40@reddit
Yeah that makes more sense. So 500# located pretty high up, gonna fuck with your handling.
I do think it looks cool though. I like an art car.
Dependent_Grass9758@reddit
Factory weight: ~3,100 lb Added weight (pennies): ~449 lb Increase: ~14.5% more weight
ChoripanPorfis@reddit
Thats not bad at all honestly
Fister-Mantastic@reddit
Now do a corvette covered in Thnickels
FrameJump@reddit
I'm not sure Mike Tyson can do that kind of math.
mats852@reddit
Plus the sealer
SpeedPunks@reddit
As a jew, I'm intrigued but also slightly offended.
Merry-Leopard_1A5@reddit
does it make the Sonic 'dropping rings' sound effect when you have a car accident?
ShiveredTimber@reddit
BAHAHAHA!
-_ByK_-@reddit
Now value of the car is higher by $900….
TouchingTheMirror@reddit
Shoulda used dimes.
Busterlimes@reddit
I would put oxidizer on it so they turn green
ParkingVanilla3202@reddit
RUINED
TouchingTheMirror@reddit
Nah -- the pennies are still probably legal tender.
Salty_Gonads@reddit
I bet that cost a pretty penny

Bland-fantasie@reddit
We’ve all thought about doing this but all but one of us thought better of it.
Why not polish the pennies before install.

With the US not minting Pennies anymore, this will go up in value for coin collectors eventually right?

Patriquito@reddit
Are the pennies minted in 1965?
TheWorldNeedsDornep@reddit
My first thought was to wonder how much more that weighed.
fridgemadness@reddit
