Combining Comm Single Engine Add-On Training with CFI Training

Hey all, I have my Commercial Multi cert but I only still have Private Pilot privileges for Single Engine, so I have to take a Comm Single Engine Add-on ride before my CFI checkride. I was thinking about combining both Comm SE Add-on and CFI training together and taking both checkrides from the right seat, and taking each checkride within a week or two of each other. I’m planning to have all my CFI ground study done before I proceed with the flight training. Has anyone done this before and had any good/bad experiences with it? Thanks!

I did this. I took both SE add on practical tests on the same day. Total flight time flying there and back and both tests was 3 hours. Oral was short/easy since there wasn’t much left after CFI-G and ME.

It is possible…. ASA has a free syllabus to describe how…

Had a buddy of mine do this, worked out fine for him. definitely do all your training in the right seat it’ll make cfi less painful but try and do some training from the left for comm checkride just to be comfortable, you never know how a DPE can be, they could always ask “why are you sitting in the right seat if your pilot in command and I’m supposed to be a passenger” yada yada. Better safe than sorry
