ULPT I need help urgently

Im 19, accidentally scraped a parked car and did the right thing and waited for the driver to come back from the shops. Scratch was minimal, maximum a $500 fix.
Now my problem, where I live in australia it is illegal for a person my age to drive my vehicle due to power restrictions. and after hitting the car I handed her my license as a trust sort of thing as she agreed to sort it privately without insurance however I have just found she lodged an insurance claim 30minutes after the incident with my license attatched to the registration of a vehicle i can not legally drive nor is it insured in my name. It is in my dads name.
She has refused to withdraw the claim and I am royally fucked. I need something dodgy or some tips to negate damage as soon as possible I am stressed the fuck out!

I think u just have to let this play out. Mb next time don’t drive wheat u can’t drive.

I don't know Australia insurance code, but in the US, most insurance won't deny simply on the fact that you aren't legally driving.
They can require that regular drivers be rated, though, and deny if they aren't (this is sort of new in the US, and a growing number of insurance companies are doing it, so if you're in the US and thinking "nah" you just haven't run into it... yet....).
Either they'll pay it, or they'll tell her tough luck, and then she can either come to you, or go to her own insurance, who will ask to be paid back after. Realistically, auto body repairs are expensive, so it's costing more than OP thinks, but insurance has steps in place to authorize proper repairs, but prevent overpaying. Plus, if the lady OP hit is a jerk, OP doesn't have to deal with her, one of two insurance companies does.

Im from America and I wasnt aware that different countries had rules for what vehicles you could drive based on power?!?! thats crazy
doomhammer87@reddit
"I'm from America" like it's the pinnacle of culture and knowledge. The fact that you weren't made aware that different countries have different rules is absolutely unacceptable.
thebootlick@reddit
Well you could always say that this is all a fabricated lie, but if there were cameras that caught this you could get into legal trouble too.
thewinterfan@reddit
Find a way to apply damage to her parked and unoccupied car where your damage is.

Never ever hand over legal documents like this, run away from the scratch not bcs u should be an asshole but bcs u know u legally cant drive and as such the risk isnt worth it, u can be a good citizen when ur doin legal things lol. But besides "future fixes", idk what u can do rn. Maybe stalk her online if u can, chance u find her house and u can show up and ask for ur license back. No idea tho good luck my g

I mean driving without a license is better then a hit and run. I know this sucks but honestly you made the right call. I wouldn't worry to much about it. If cops even find out, the fact that you did the right thing will mean something.
SVStyles@reddit
The real ULPT would've been to just skedaddle instead of trying to do the right thing. But right now your best option is probably to talk to her and explain your situation and get her to withdraw the claim somehow so you can settle it privately. Your show of good faith has to count for something.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH@reddit (OP)
I have done this, she has cut all communicatoon with me and decided to continue the insurance claim
SlightRun8550@reddit
You lost your license i wouldn't cooperate with insurance id tell them since she lied they need to talk to her conversation is over don't talk to them till court
westsideriderz15@reddit
Hmm. So someone filed an insurance claim against you but you aren’t insured so the insurance would deny claim immediately? In which case they need to approach you directly or their insurance will pay them out under uninsured motorist idea and then they come to you for reimbursement? Idk, just brainstorming here.
Might not be as big of an issue as you think. I mean, insurance isn’t police so they may not bring it up.
letternumbers-and_@reddit
The car is insured in his dad's name.
westsideriderz15@reddit
Yeah but the driver isnt named on the policy. That might mean something, not sure.
letternumbers-and_@reddit
That makes it worse. I'm not sure of Australian laws but driving uninsured is illegal most places. And that woman knows who OP is because they handed over their license.
SlightRun8550@reddit
Handing over the license was the mistake the insurance isn't the deal specifically if he doesn't live with his dad as long as he doesn't drive it regularly if it's once in a while it comes under the dads insurance but the guy should never have given his license
blknble@reddit
Not even about being insured. The problem is that OP was not legally allowed to be driving that car according to the laws of their country. I don't specifically know the location of the OP but some places in Australia only allow you to drive a high powered sports car with a specific license. It will now be obvious once the insurance claim starts that they were driving a car they can legally not.
firstoff@reddit
She filed an insurance claim with her insurance, not OP or Op's dad.
Her insurance will pay her, then seek damages from OP, who can either pay the claim, negotiate the claim, or give it to OP's dad's insurer to handle it.
