BB guns work well on streetlights. If you wanted to get creative you could make a potato gun
Wonderful_sloth@reddit
If you know an electrician and you can access the base of the lamp they can install a remote switch to turn it on and off.
I know someone that did this, the light turns on at normal time but when he is home and goes to bed he uses the remote to turn off the street light.

I had something like this outside my window. The street lamp was like an 8-sided lantern on a post. I got darkening window foil and a tall ladder, and applied the foil to the glass on the one side that was glaring into the bedroom. Made a big difference and nobody in the neighbourhood seemed to have noticed but me. Hope this helps.

Easier to apply and reapply is needed.

Woah that’s such a good idea

Thanks, ShutYourDickTrap.

I have 2 sets of friends who would regularly loosen lightbulbs

City might be willing to install a deflector if you ask, just a bit of shrouding to keep the light from spilling certain directions. Usually see them more on highway lighting that abuts residential neighborhoods, but it should be a standard kit for most streetlights.
cronhoolio@reddit
That's way too ethical for this sub.
Salt-Deer2138@reddit
Then use the foil as a stencil and paint.
ThePureAxiom@reddit
Sometimes the path of least resistance is an ethical one. There's at least a hint of petty revenge to it inasmuch as you're making them fix the problem they created,
jankyj@reddit
Maybe the deflector holds a piss disc?
El_Cartografo@reddit
Either them or the electric utility, whomever owns the pole. They will usually install one if you ask.
YeetboiMcDab@reddit
gun.
Ok-Stable-2015@reddit
pellet gun (lesser charges)
No-Procedure5991@reddit
paintball or drone armed with spray-paint to block the light just shining in OP's direction and allow the light to continue to illuminate the street.

My solution to everything (but a BB gun or even a slingshot could work here)
burn3344@reddit
I contemplated this at 3am after the traditional orange street light was retrofitted with a led. It was just like a shitty conversion on a car where it shines bright white light everywhere it doesn’t actually need to be, which somehow made it past the window blinds and lit up my bedroom.
EVlLCORP@reddit
I did that, went to prison the night after
AquaSquatch@reddit
I too went to prison for gun
mabus42@reddit
Just tell your meth head acquaintances (because of course they're not an actual friend) about all the copper wiring inside of the street lamp.
Problem solved. At least temporarily anyways.
InterviewAware1129@reddit
There's usually a side panel where an electrician can access the wires.
Do you know an electrician?
wildjakes@reddit
drive into it with a stolen car
Sicsnow@reddit
This guy unethicals!
MagnificentBastard-1@reddit
Not unethical, but could you ask the people responsible (city, county, etc.) to put a shield on it so that it doesn’t shine on your house.
I guess the “unethical” tip would be to install your own, if you can reach it.
Canna_grower_VT14@reddit
Rocks and a slingshot.

Get some catapult practice in
Granadafan@reddit
Lots of thieves in LA are stealing the copper wire powering street lights. Now big stretches are dark
GarlicFarmerGreg@reddit
If you could aim a laser pointer at the dusk to dawn sensor during the night it will stay off.
Bonus points if you call the repair # and they can’t find anything wrong with it
cronhoolio@reddit
It depends on the light. If you can reach it and it makes sense, get some spray paint and go to town on the facet that's letting light assault your retinas.
If that's not possible, just keep shooting it out. Use an air rifle at 3am to minimize the chance if waking your neighbors.
Or open up the panel at the bottom and cut out as much wire as you can, assuming it's not fed from an aerial.
Blue_Iquana@reddit
Streetlights are generally there for safety.
Use the blackout curtains.
