Affordable renters insurance?

Does anyone have affordable renters' insurance that they're happy with? I'm moving to the mid-cities in a month and will need to get some.

State farm insurance

I went for Lemonade after a bit of research, but it's broken down quite well on Rentersplanhero.

Thanks! We ended up going with lemonade too!

honestly renters insurance runs me like $12/month, super cheap for peace of mind. i compared a bunch through rentersplanpro and most were pretty similar price-wise, just pick one with decent coverage limits

I like Traveler's!
Colorless-Kryptonite@reddit
PS, Travelers is known to run higher than others. Even my insurance broker told me this. For example, Travelers quote (10k personal property coverage) was $173/year and Progressive quote (higher coverage, $15k pers prop) was $127.

Renters insurance is usually cheap honestly, I pay less than a streaming sub. I compared a few options on BestMoney just to see typical prices and coverage, then picked one with decent reviews. As long as it covers liability and your stuff, most of them feel pretty similar day to day

State Farm policies run about $9 per month depending on your coverages
Regular-Message9591@reddit (OP)
Can I ask what your personal possessions coverage is?
ClassicMeet2907@reddit
Your personal property. Electronics, clothing, furniture, cookware etc
If there is a fire in the apt complex and you lose everything, the carrier will replace the coverage amount stated on declaration page
Regular-Message9591@reddit (OP)
😂 sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant what did you set your coverage limit at e.g. 20k
ClassicMeet2907@reddit
Standard is set at 20k with SF

Thank you

Seconding state farm. I pay $11 but added some extras
forthepeople2028@reddit
I have on the high end of what’s generally required and it’s like $15 a month. The insanely high end would be $20 a month.
Regular-Message9591@reddit (OP)
Man, I'm being quoted $30 a month. No former claims, first time renting.
forthepeople2028@reddit
This is quoted in the minimum the renter requires you to have? That’s insanely hard to believe
Regular-Message9591@reddit (OP)
Yeah $100k liability, $40k personal possessions. Minimum is $20k but that only takes it down to $26 a month.
forthepeople2028@reddit
Prob the personal property of $40k. I have $100k liability, $20k personal with $500 deductible it’s $16 a month
intoxicatedsparkles@reddit
AAA. About $85/yr

State Farm. Â
But Whoever you choose make sure they pay replacent cost and not actual cash value.Â

Good advice, thank you

Lemonade

Lemonade (app).
stocknudez@reddit
I think I pay 25ish and have above and beyond.
Suziannie@reddit
I was always able to bundle with my car insurance and got a decent deal. Remember insurance isn’t exactly something to cheap out on.
Regular-Message9591@reddit (OP)
For sure. Need to look for new car insurance too 😂
slavior47@reddit
Allstate has been by far the cheapest for me
