Event Review: VCF East Swap Meet - October 2025

This October's VCF Swap Meet was well worth it! The open air venue was very pleasant and we got lucky with the weather. It was about seventy degrees. There is a radio and TV museum next door as well the VCF museum and a military vehicle display. Things sold for actual swap meet prices this year! It is great to support my local VCF chapter and see these things not go to e-waste. Highly recommend it if you can make it.

That was my table with the Macintosh II (and the pink gaffer tape). Didn't get much of a chance to wander around. That Video Toaster would have been awfully tempting.

Hehe. The A4000 Toaster was not swap meet priced. It was 3K, which admittedly is cheaper than eBay but still not cheap. It was a pleasure to see it there though.

It seems pretty nuts to be trying to sell an expansion card for thousands of dollars, especially when the demand isn't related to utility.

It included the A4000 computer as well, complete with box and keyboard. Not an unreasonable price given what they go for on eBay.

I stopped off to ask about the A4000; if it was "swap meet" priced I would've been tempted by it also. It was probably a good thing for my budget that it was 3K. 😆

There had been a very complete setup a year or two ago on Craigslist for I think $2400. That was probably my best opportunity. I actually make analog video art and have a ton of other era appropriate video equipment. Getting a Toaster would be the cherry on top for that full early 90s music video look.

As someone who was there, I'd like to add that the food truck they had there was fantastic! I had a pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich, and then later a cheeseburger, and both of them were really tasty and cooked to perfection.

It was a good day, a higher number of vendors than the last one I went to there and great weather for walking around. We made the obligatory trips over to the museums and caught a guide by Frank O'Brien at the space building. There was a Woz edition //gs at a great price and a //c in fantastic condition; I resisted both but did get another 1581 to add to my C= collection.
