one of those things from the 80's that I"m NOT nostalgic for. Never liked it.

Irritating beyond belief. Like a 80s Mr Blobby.

I liked the weekly series with Matt Frewer as Edison Carter of Network23.

The Chicago OTA takeover.   They never found out who did this.  Classic.

I think of Max Headroom shockingly often. So many things were predicted - reality TV, NFC payments, media narratives shaping reality, government by entertainment... *AMAZON BASICS: we make everything you need, you need everything we make*!

I had the biggest crush on him as a kid, I always liked a man who could make me laugh ever since. Oh and good teeth too!

Being 5-10 years behind the zeitgeist I am watching Orphan Black at the moment and was very pleased to see him show up!

Does anyone remember the original Cinemax series in the mid eighties? 30 minutes, no plot, just Max introducing music videos and doing monologues and occasionally interviews. His show first exposed me to the bands Skinny Puppy, Cabaret Voltaire, and Severed Heads. He also played top 40, but this stuff made it in there. When he interviewed Sting (via a television screen), he asked repeated questions about golf and referred to him at one point as "Stink". When he interviewed Nick Rhodes and Simon LeBon, he referred to their record "So Red the Rose" as "So Dead the Nose," and he also asked them questions about golf. One of his monologues was about how you "always see one glove by the side of the road, but never two. *Where is that other glove and why is it always blue??*" Lots of those aggressive edits and repeats in his speech, more than in the later sci fi series. DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER? Thanks in advance for sharing any memories.

It's strange how certain things bring back old memories. The song Paranoimia with Max was playing in the stockroom at work back in the day at the time I happened to go in there. It was the first time I heard it I so clearly remember that moment. So strange.

Art of Noise were highly underrated imo, love this song and the B-side "Why me" both

You know, I was thinking of this the other week. It's been years (decades, probably) since I saw the original film (before the TV series) and I'd love to watch that again. I remember it was filmed here in the UK and tried for a "Blade Runner" vibe but got hampered by the budget.
