We can help design it? Brown, manual, V12, wagon, diesel, and rotary, somehow. With plaid cloth seats. I think we're good to go on the design brief.

Dude imagine a V12 but instead of pistons each piston is replaced with a rotary

>manual, V12 Maybe it’s my overlap with the BMW subreddit, but I thought this subreddit moved on to the B58 and ZF8 torque converter auto as the new circlejerk?

W16 (16 1L Wankel rotary engines)

No piano black, no hard touch plastics, must have wireless CarPlay, and physical knobs/dials for climate control and radio. But also, can't be *too* analogue like outdated Lexus IS500 interior. Yuck! /s

If they want my help designing it they can pay me for it, either monetarily or with a car

I can’t be alone in thinking I would never ever want a car designed by any of you dweebs.

Statistically speaking, it seems likely that you already bought a car designed by one of these dweebs.

A C8 corvette sized supercar with a manual could be really cool
View on Reddit #69922547

Drunken_Hamster@reddit

The C8 is a little big for my taste (esp the wheel proportions being made for 20 inch and up) and definitely porky. I'm thinking more like Lotus evora but slightly taller in the shoulder and roof line like the new Prelude and with an almost centered driver (displaced by having the console and shifter between them and the "driver's side" whatever Market it's being sold in) so you can fit three 6'4 people with helmets. I definitely want something at least under 3,200 and preferably under 3,000 lbs with the driver, not something that's 3,400+ pounds curb weight without the driver. In order to squeeze that all into a 2.6 M wheelbase and roughly 1.8 m width I would say that they should copy Ford's discarded T Drive concept with a transverse inline engine (Ford was going to use a smallish inline 8 but I recommend a 4.0-4.6L inline 6) but power is taken from the center of the crankshaft like a motorcycle and the output to the wheel hubs is naturally symmetrical instead of needing an intermediate shaft. I also say give it a gated 7-speed single overdrive dogleg dog box semi/close ratio transmission with a long 7th (not too long but like 1.3x or 1.35x longer than 6th) for highway cruising around 60mph at 2000rpm.

That actually has some really good proportions. It's done the "old Le Mans racer" better than some prestige companies.

I would never buy a car from a company that would hire me as a designer.

There's an old joke where aviation students designed and constructed an airplane. After the completion they went for the test flight. Pilot walked up to it and saw students standing outside. \-you guys are not getting in? \-we designed it, we're scared it will crash So the pilot gets inside and sees the professor sitting alone \-sir, your students are scared because they're not sure if it's safe, are you not? \-oh come on, I know my students, this shit won't even start!

Saleen is never going to build it. Now if Steeda wants to do a coach-built version of the mustang, you'd have my interest.

Just cut and paste the s2 lotus elise with LED lighting and keyless entry. The car itself is already perfection incarnate. Shoot, if you really want to go HAM, throw a turbo K20C1 in it from the civic type R.

> The company currently builds the S1 sports car in China I remember reading that Saleen's operation there was shuttered a few years ago. Guess they've got it up and running again.

It's motor1, do you expect actual journalism? It's possible they are reporting outdated information like it was fact.
View on Reddit #69936754

Bottlely@reddit

Yeah, I need answers on this. I thought this car was cancelled or at least in hibernation after that whole fiasco. Saleen put both the street and cup racer S1 on display at some recent events, if that indicates anything.

\>The Chinese government said that Charlie Wang embezzled nearly $1 billion in state funds, and Wang then absconded to the United States. The Nantong Intermediate People's Court put the company up for auction in May 2022. I think the article may have skipped what happened after 2020

i got to see it at lemay a few days ago. currently its fine but the headlights are a bit of a copy of modern hypercars these days. maybe if they took the headlights from the raptor concept, redid them for more modern tech, and used those it might be better, idk.

I remember my dad taking me to the Saleen store at the Irvine Spectrum. He was interested in their sport truck at the time, but didn’t strike a deal. I remember him telling me on the way out that the company was going to bust because Steve didn’t know how to run the company, pointing out how much they spent on the store, the cut in half mustang on the floor, the lease, and how little conversions the store probably makes.

So the price is north of $10 million, I see.
