911 Response Time

Twice in the last month I have called 911 because someone was trying to break in to someones apartment. The cops never showed up both times. Has anyone else dealt with this? I have never called 911 in my life before the last month and Im worried that I may have to shoot a home invader if it was my home. I'm not sure what else I can do to get the police to show up.

Yes, this is a big factor why i prefer living In the suburbs. People call it boring but at least public services are properly staffed and respond to emergencies. I used to live down town and had someone breaking into my apartment, called 911 told them I was armed and if they got through the door I would fire and they said they'd send someone soon as they could. Luckily they didn't get in, cops never did show up.

Low priority. They will respond to calls involving weapons/violent crime or loss of life before yours. There are many of those happening. And precious few officers to respond.

Yes, this happened to me when I was dealing with dv. They never showed up. Terrible situation. I’m glad you were ok both times this happened and hope it doesn’t happen again!

Probably the only way you'll get a police response in less than 3 hours.
