I dont eat pigs feet straight. I do, however, add them to stews to contribute sale and gelatin.

The korean style where it's braised and sliced thinly is very good. Add some chojang or ssamjang and wrap it in lettuce with a slice of raw garlic.

Ok that I would try. But just pink and pickled I dont think I could, and I try so many new foods more than once but that one is too rough for me.
Past-Combination-137@reddit
Yea dress it up why don’t you? 🤣 still a pigs FOOT no matter how you prepare it.

That's the reason I stopped eating my mother's soup and stews. I see her large soup pot on the stove, I gave the soup a stir and up comes chicken feet and cow stomach. Nope. Another time it was pigs feet and pig stomach. Nope. Then there was the time that fish head popped up. Fuck NO.

Bone in pig feet. Gnarly
cuck__everlasting@reddit
You ever tried to bone out a pigs foot?
pinnerjay17@reddit
People do it to chicken feet.
donuttrackme@reddit
Not usually.
pinnerjay17@reddit
.Boneless chicken feet are eaten in China, South Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam, often as a snack or in salads. The preparation method varies depending on the country. Look it up. I thought it was pretty interesting so it caught my eye. Lol

You should see what they did to oxtail prices recently. Oxtail is the new lobster in terms of cost yet they have the same roots intent and recipe wise.
donuttrackme@reddit
The same thing that happened with lobster.
FormerLifeFreak@reddit
That’s why I’m praying to god beef marrow bones never become a trend. Supermarket meat managers: please keep putting the stickers that say “dog bones” on them so I can buy them for cheap. I’ll use marrow bones in a soup any day of the goddamn week.
ShanosTheRadTitan@reddit
You tell no lies, oxtail prices have been out of pocket for quite a while now.
notabigmelvillecrowd@reddit
For real, I was born in the 80s, and oxtail has been a luxury item my whole life.
GodsFavorite69420@reddit
Fact is lobster only became popular in the mid 1800s when railroads could bring it to major East Coast cities, and only because you had to have serious money for the transport while keeping them alive. Before that they were considered trash. It's all arbitrary pricing
melindaj20@reddit
Its been high for a while now. Saw a meat place selling them by the pieces for $25. Large gets you 2 or 3 pieces. Medium and small gets you another piece or 2. Or other places have them over $10/lb.
And I can’t even go to a Jamaican restaurant for a meal. Its now $25 to $50 or more for a plate of rice and oxtail. I now get stewed chicken once or twice a year. Far too expensive these days.

Money-Ad7257@reddit
In this case, it's supposed to evoke pickling with beets I think.
I love pig's feet, but I've seen some improperly sealed containers of these. Don't want to risk food poisoning over something pedestrian (ba-dum) as this....
Nomadzord@reddit
Okay, I’ll pick some up and try it. I love pickled stuff and covering stuff in hot sauce. The fact that they’re feet kind of grosses me out to be honest. I tried pickled chicken feet once and was not a fan of the texture.

When I was a kid, my Mom had a jar (much smaller than that one) of Pickled Pigs Feet in the fridge. One day, she offered me one, as she popped the lid off. I got one whiff of that and my gag reflex engaged. One day, when she took the bus to go downtown shopping, I thought I'd sneak one to see what all the fuss was about. Needless to say, my life flashed before me before I returned that jar to the fridge, never to be mentioned again! I was about 10. Then, in 7th grade, I had a Biology class, where the teacher had jars of various animal parts in a liquid. The thought of the Pickled Pigs Feet experiment resurfaced, making it exceedingly hard for me to dissect a cow's eye! 😵
euniceaf@reddit
I fuck with pig feet! Super yummy with bun bo hue. My dad also makes a stew with them. Slaps with hot sauce and fermented shrimp paste.
How'd you prepare yours :)
Tee_313@reddit (OP)
These are pickled, you just eat em straight out the jar. But I've had them at a few soul food places around here that smoke them for hours then slather them in BBQ sauce. At that point, they're similar to ribs tips.
euniceaf@reddit
Never had them pickled! Ill give it a try if I see them.

rotobot@reddit
Grew up eating them and still do on occasion. Not a favorite but any means, but not bad. Better than picked pig's ears at least!
boringcranberry@reddit
Do you pick it up and eat around the bone? What's the texture? What does it feel like when you bite it?
rotobot@reddit
Yep, you just pick it up and eat it right from the foot and around the bones. Texture is a little chewy and gelatinous, but pig skin is often is unless it's fried.
wyant93@reddit
This sounds horrifying
rotobot@reddit
It's not the most appetizing food but it's fine. Much less appealing cuts of meat go in to hotdogs. Well, the pink slime or similar that then goes in to hotdogs.
Tee_313@reddit (OP)
Yup, you eat them the same way you eat ribs.

Tee_313@reddit (OP)
Yup!
_wojo@reddit
Never had them pickled. But I love pig's feet and chicken feet. My only gripe is they're pretty much impossible to eat without getting your fingers dirty.

I bought pickled pigs feet ONCE in my 44 years of life.
They were crammed in the jar so tight it took 20 minutes to get one out.
It still had what looked like toe bone sticking out.
I tried to bite into it and my teeth wouldn’t bite through to anything and my mouth filled with a terrible “off” taste.
I immediately gagged and tossed the foot and rest of jar into the trash.
I would add however, that I WOULD eat the feet, ears, cheeks, etc if we were dealing with a fresh kill and a whole hog cook over fire, in a pig cooker, or from a pit.
