We don’t have family here for Thanksgiving so want to take a long weekend trip somewhere - preferably no more than 4 hours each way.

Dinosaur valet state park or any state park with screened shelters or cabins

There is also a privately owned Dinosaur place nearby with life size reproductions that kids love. That place also has a spot where the kids can dig for small fossils.

Check out the cabins in broken bow Oklahoma. It's not too far.

Did this last year with a toddler. It was a nice trip, to be sure, but def took us more than four hours each way, given the multiple stops needed for the toddler.

It was 3 hours for us from near Celina.

Yeah, we had to stop twice each way, and not quick stops. The toddler doesn't do amazing on road trips.

Dallas Arboretum, FW Stockyards, all the pumpkin patches

There is a Bluey exhibit at Camp Houston right now that is fun if they are into that. There is also a small theme park that lets small kids operate construction equipment

Thank you! What is the construction theme park called?

It’s called Dig World

We really enjoy Austin. We stay at the hotel next to the Thinkery and it’s a great and easy toddler vacation. (Well as easy as vacationing with a toddler can be.)
All within walking distance there’s the hotel, children museum (Thinkery), a solid park, a good number of restaurants, and some light shopping. Plus, the Perot membership is reciprocal with the Thinkery and so it’s free to walk the two blocks to the children’s museum, spend a couple of hours, and then go explore Austin.

If you want leaves on trees, maybe look in the piney woods area. If you don't care about that, others have mentioned Hochatown (often referred to as Broken Bow) as a good place to rent a cabin and get out for a peaceful weekend.

What do you want to do when you get there?

Sounds like they want to toddle.
