Help me with weekend plans

Hi I am fairly new to Dallas and want to make some plans for Sunday. I am thinking grab a coffee somewhere - walk to a nice park- long walk - little picnic or like a farmers market. Basically anything feel good.
I live in uptown. I still don’t own a car so short uber ride/ connecting public transport is welcome
No Katy trail please-suggest something else.

Yes! Great choice. Just go when all the shops are open and be prepared to spend money 🤣 bc I always find something at every store!

I lived here two years without a car. It can be done but dart was also safer then 😢

White Rock Lake for a long walk. And, BONUS, you can stop by the Dallas Animal shelter and take an adoptable dog on a Day-Cation for the day: walk at the lake, Starbucks for a pupachino, brunch on a patio…perfect day.

Do I just go ask at the shelter if I can take a dog on a walk?

I’m a volunteer there.
All you need to do is go to the Dallas Animal Shelter on Westmoreland any morning and tell the front desk you want to take a dog on a “Day-cation”. They’ll help you pick out a dog that is right for your needs and/or really needs a break from the shelter. They’ll provide you with leash and a vest for the dog to wear that says “Adopt Me.” You take the dog out and do fun activities all day (or even just to lounge on your couch and watch movies) and you bring them back in the afternoon.
Post pictures on your social media to help the dog get adopted. Afterwards you’ll give the shelter notes on the dog’s behavior to help with potential adopters- good on a leash? gentle with treats? likes cuddles?
One rule though is you can’t take them to a dog park because there would be liability if there were issues with other dogs.

Thank you for the additional info. I will stop by for a day-cation soon!

This is a bad idea bc there’s no way I can give that dog back and not want to adopt it 😂 😂

this is the cutest idea 🥹

Hell yeah! So many dogs need a day out of the shelter and helps them get adopted. Win-win for everyone!

Check out the Dallas Farmers Market. They have Palmieri's coffee shop inside, there will be vendors outside in the shed, along with food trucks. Inside there are a lot of restaurants and shops to peruse.
If you feel so inclined it's a short walk from there into Deep Ellum as well.

Look into the Thai food market on Sundays at the Dallas Buddhist temple. Held every Sunday weather permitting. Lots of yummy food. Klyde Warren park would be my other suggestion, or Dallas Arboretum.
