It can be effective. The shaped charges typically used against tanks work best if they detonate against the hull, so if a drone gets tangling the wire, or detonates against the scrap metal armour that's a few feet above the actual hull, the charge will be less effective. However it comes with the obvious drawbacks of being easier to see, slower, and harder to escape from.

look into shaped charges, it's how most drone tank kills happen. The more distance you put between your "proper" armor and the shaped charge, the better, which is why both sides care less about the "proper armor" thickness and more about "how can we make the shaped charge go off a tiny bit further away"

Yes. During recent armored assaults which seem to be making a return after a lull for a few months, some footage has emerged of such vehicles taking lots of FPV drone hits. I believe in one case about a month ago, one took almost 120 hits before returning. In a video this week, I think from shakhove direction, one took 15 FPV hits.
