Yeah, I'm seriously surprised by this considering how well maintained that section of the DNT is. I mean, the fact that the car is continuously slipping afterwards is definitely a combination of user error/bald tires.
With that said - the point still stands to remain cautious of other drives like this.
I doubt it’s bald tires. It’s user error because the road curved to the left but the driver went straight and ended up in the lane to his/her right. Then started braking, skidding, and overcorrecting. The driver was probably texting someone at work or posting something on Reddit.
Ive slipped there in the rain because my tires weren't inflated properly. The speed limit through there used to be 55 now its 70 and people go 80. Too fast in the rain even with decent tires.
The speed limit in that area is however fast you feel like it, rain or snow, its ridiculous how people act on that road. Plus, that Lexus SUV has one of the highest rated traction control systems in a passenger vehicle, its pretty impressive what that thing can do, you gotta be a real piece of shit to fuck that thing up.
Only emissions inspections are required in bigger cities. Safety inspections have been eliminated across the entire state. So your tires can be bald and brakes worn down to the metal, but as long as it passes the emissions check, you're good to go.
Look at the front tires, she's sawing that steering wheel back and forth pretty violently. If she'd just let go of the steering wheel for a moment the vehicle would have straightened out on its own.
No seriously I noticed that immediately. ASC is fighting for it's life to get that vehicle straight and she's doing everything you're NOT supposed to do.
Jerking the wheel, braking during the skids, etc
I miss Dallas after moving but not traffic. I remember any time we had any kind of inclement weather all 77EH broke out. 75 by High Five in any rain let alone ice or NW Hwy after a freeze and wet wind off Bachman froze. Or a rain in July or August and how slippery roads got from oil on roads. Or hail storms and people stopped under overpasses. Be safe out there🚗🚙🚕🚓
I was shocked at how long she was out of control. Overcorrection after overcorrection, then she started getting it back, only to overcorrect a few more times.
Tbh, I'm shocked she didn't get it completely sideways and roll it.
I sold it for a 2022 LX570 that I really liked, that got stolen in CO. Then I decided to buy a Chevy 2500 for some towing reasons. Now I am looking into moving back to the new GX. I’m attaching a link to my GX, it was my favorite of all time.
My GX460
This is exactly why I call this particular section of DNT "The Gauntlet", always backed up, always an accident and a major bottleneck for whole tollway
Protip for when you start to loose traction in wet conditions: Stop pressing the GAS! Regardless of tire condition, spinning tires will make things worse.
Count the number of times they touch their brakes. They could have had control by the time they were in that outside lane before the ramp. When you don’t have traction, brakes are not your friend
Excellent defensive driving. In too many of these videos, the camera person decides to just gets hit instead of letting the terrible drive swerve themself into oblivion.
Got lucky no one on the right and it was a merging lane, but this should be tutorial for defensive driving.
Was paying enough attention to dodge crazy in time, kept his distance and let them cook swerving themselves out of it and got far away from them quickly when it was safe.
drove up to addison yesterday afternoon, 2 close-calls, one accident on the way up, 1 close call 1 accident on the way back. I avoid highways at all costs in the DFW but was forced to use them yesterday due to time constraints. hate it.
The crazy thing is..... That's a full time 4x4 and have a kdss system that's automatically stiffen the suspension on the opposite side to control body roll and skid
The road ant even bad, the Lexi just needs new tires.
Wanna see a bad road? Try driving down 75 last night around 10:30. I literally had to drive through flooded sections of the freeway to get to a Dallas nightclub
Oof, that happened to me over in Oaklawn by the old Benihana once. Came up to a slow stop at a light, and suddenly my car was spinning. Ended up pointing the opposite direction, and luckily there were no other cars.
It's Texas. One drop of rain on a road anywhere in the state makes the whole state drive crazy. It's probably physics or something, I dunno, went to school in Texas.

Definitely something wrong with her tires

Excellent idea to no longer require inspections.
