The more important question is, is this place legit? Ive lived in Dallas County my entire life and all my friends who’ve become Texans in the recent years all tell me our Chinese is $**t.
ALaccountant@reddit
Chinese food is not shit in DFW, wtf are you going? Plano and Richardson (in that order) have great, authentic, Chinese food
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
Please, enlighten me. Genuinely looking for good, quality Chinese food.
ALaccountant@reddit
Okay, so there’s several places.
Sichuan Folk - good sit down place on Legacy in Plano. Authentic food. Or at least used to be, I haven’t been since they moved to their new location.
Ztao on Coit and Park has a food court that I highly recommend. There’s a guy that makes his own noodles by hand every morning. There’s another place next to that one that sells Northern Chinese food (get the sweet pork loin, it’s basically an authentic version of orange chicken but WAY better).
There’s quite a few other places but I only know them by their location lol. Sorry.
Honestly, just search Chinese food in Plano. If it has Chinese characters in the name and decent google reviews, you won’t be disappointed. There’s a huge Chinese population there so anything mediocre or bad goes out of business quickly.
sienrfsh@reddit
This is a terrible list. You need to review what people say on Xiao Hong Shu.
Sichuan Folk recycles their mala broths
Ztao food court is very dirty. I’ve seen the back kitchens
First BBQ buys their skewers frozen
Bamboo House is alright but more catered to white people’s tastes

Happy to hear your suggestions if you want to contribute any
ALaccountant@reddit
Yeah, my born and raised Chinese wife, her Chinese friends, don’t know what they are talking about. Go complain somewhere else troll - just complaints no alternative suggestions from you
mattgoldey@reddit
Dumpling House, maybe?
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
THIS is a great place to start. Thank you !!!
rimjob_steve@reddit
Don’t forget wu Wei din in Plano too.
ALaccountant@reddit
Re-read my comment. I just added a few other places
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
You’re doing The Lord’s work!
ALaccountant@reddit
This is just the tip of the iceberg, but there’s a LOT here in Plano and Richardson that I think will satisfy you.
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
Oh, more than satisfied. Sounds like I’ve got a ton of new places to try.
IveGotAFork@reddit
It depends what you’re looking for and if you’re willing to go outside of Dallas Proper. Chinese American food here like orange chicken or general tso’s can be good if you know where to go but on average its pretty subpar.
If you’re talking about authentic Chinese food its actually very good and we’ve got a ton of restaurants in Plano/Richardson that are top-notch for regional Chinese food like Cantonese food, Shanghainese, Sichuan, and even Uyghur and Taiwanese
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
Oh, I’m sure you’re right! Even in the Greenville/635 area there are MANY regional Chinese restaurants, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t apprehensive, or downright intimidated to try them.
IveGotAFork@reddit
I implore you to give Imperial Feast in Plano a try. They focus on Taiwanese cuisine which is extremely approachable. Mostly known for slow cooked braised pork belly over rice, and fried chicken cutlet or fried pork cutlet over rice which you can think is their version of a chicken fried steak
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
Thank you! Will def look into Imperial Feast!
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
Wow, getting downvoted for a question? Lmao. Reddit be like. Some people with lower comprehension ability must think I was trashing DFW Chinese food, when I’m simply stating what others have stated.
belladonna_81@reddit
Omg no it’s BAD.
STAY_5TRAPPED@reddit
I’d like to think I’ve a discerning palate, and outside of pre-pandemic BoBo China, I’ve not eaten quality Chinese since the late 90’s in the Dallas/Irving/Coppell area that I’ve spent a huge part of my life in.
irad1111@reddit
Yeah it’s not the best
Mar16celino@reddit
Interesting location choice. It's decent with a large portion maybe a lil pricey
foppishmanabouttown@reddit
Not pricey at all. Portions are great and food is always tasty and fresh!
jdjs44@reddit
I agree! This has been my go-to spot ever since they opened in 2008
Stevenshy@reddit
Been around longer than that next to the fiesta
Glass-Treat3319@reddit
Man I wish he had a meet and greet!
ScottyMo1@reddit
Doesn’t he speak like 10 languages ?
Cansum1helpme@reddit
Yeah I don’t know how he does it. If it’s Legit that’s pretty amazing
tcappas@reddit
He’s very good at having basic conversations in a bunch of languages which is way more than I can claim. His mandarin is his best tho I’ve seen native speakers say it’s still just okay.
scorched03@reddit
His mandarin is pretty good hence the surprised looks. The hardest is the accents which he seems to have gotten down too. He is also using the formal ways of talking to people i.e. the formal 'you' to customers so he knows enough.
icywing54@reddit
Still probably better than a lot of English-speaker’s english
Cansum1helpme@reddit
I know Spanish, a lil German and some French, but the non-Romance languages like Hindi, Chinese or Telugu are on another level!
HashKing@reddit
He was talking to the line cooks in Spanish!
James-the-Bond-one@reddit
18 languages, according to his channel's intro.

I was impressed by this guy like 4 yrs ago before youtube started shoving it down my throat
BadGolferDallas@reddit
Ha. Saw that and had no idea it was in Dallas.
UDMN@reddit
Wat
SoggyBiscuitVet@reddit
He's speaking Chinese to the customers, and Spanish to the kitchen staff.
I'm slightly amused by the reality of this as I would expect it to have been fully staged, and if it is they definitely added texture to the background characters.
EightEnder1@reddit
His channel is great, he speaks like 300 languages. The really touching videos are when he learns an obscure dying language and then surprises the older generations who are struggling to keep the language alive after they are gone.
eventualist@reddit
300? I can barely do one.
mtfw@reddit
Imo it's only staged in the sense that they got a ton of footage and only used the good stuff. He seems like a 100% genuine dude.
Distinct-Hold-5836@reddit
Love this guy's YT channel
indiestitiousDev@reddit
holy shit i didn’t recognize the guy at all... good for him.
he’s been chillin with Nikocado Avocado.

Anybody here watch Xiaoma's channel? He was working the drive-thru at China Bowl Express in Dallas.
Geoffrey-Jellineck@reddit
I watched it but had no idea that was in Dallas.
DCJustSomeone@reddit
Wtf. I saw the video and it tripped me out when talked to the cook in Spanish 😂
mattgoldey@reddit
Same. I figured it was in NJ.
Virtual-Lobster1566@reddit
Everyone seems to ignore the fact that there’s a bunch of Mexicans cooking in the back.
biscuitz23@reddit
It's the area, where this restaurant is, there's lot of hispanics. Which isn't a bad thing at all but explains why they would get a job there though. I use to go to this spot a lot when i was younger and they've always had hispanics cooking. Not a bad place either cause the food was at least consistent. But if you're trying to come to this restaurant for "authentic" asian food then... its not it.
Amazing-Jump4158@reddit
That’s why it’s ignored, because that’s life in Texas. 30% of our population speaks Spanish. It’s who we are 👍👍
Virtual-Lobster1566@reddit
I don’t ignore it it makes me question why there aren’t a bunch of Asian people cooking my Asian food. When I go to a Mexican restaurant I don’t see a bunch of Asians cooking my food. However I’ve seen in buffets it’s both Asians and Mexicans cooking the food.
CatteNappe@reddit
Dallas is 42% Hispanic and 4% Asian. You do the math on how many of each are likely to be working in any food service establishment.
Amazing-Jump4158@reddit
Wow. I’m not even going to attempt to engage with that….
Virtual-Lobster1566@reddit
Idc about the color or ethnicity in a bad way. I just wonder why it is and how it changes things.
That lady was Asian and even though there were a bunch of (Hispanic) people working the food, it must be tasty enough for her to keep coming back.
noncongruent@reddit
We were Mexican before we were American.
Virtual-Lobster1566@reddit
Agreed. But that still doesn’t change the fact that it’s Mexicans making my Asian food lol.
noncongruent@reddit
There's no way to tell from looking at someone if they're Mexican, FWIW.
Virtual-Lobster1566@reddit
There is. You can tell the difference between a Mexican and a Central American. Americans can’t tell, but we Hispanic people can. We can also hear the accents in Spanish or the type of words they use in their Spanish.

TexasBaconMan@reddit
I’m not familiar with that disorder what is it?

No way
ShakyIncision@reddit
Today? Or when?
FreeChickenDinner@reddit (OP)
This video was posted on 10/23/2025, but he doesn't say when it's filmed.
_ze@reddit
This used to be our spot when my wife and I lived in Lochwood. How random to see Xiaoma there! I love that he featured the owner, as well.
gretafour@reddit
This guy is so obnoxious. And I’m also a white guy that speaks Chinese
