Any experience with UT Southwestern for heart bypass surgery?

Would appreciate hearing about any experiences with UTSW William P Clements for coronary artery bypass surgery.
Complex high-risk patient.
Alternative is probably BSW Heart Hospital in Plano.

Both excellent facilities with exceptional staff but UTSW will always have the upper hand with better patient outcomes (complex patients with high risk co-morbidities) from my perspective.

Thank you! Any recommendations for a UTSW bypass surgeon?

I do not-it’s been a bit since my PACU days but you’re already miles ahead just by asking

For anything heart related, hands down The Heart Hospital (Baylor Plano). I’ve worked in cardiothoracic surgery for years in DFW. Feel free to message me with any questions. Hope all goes well!

Best surgeon for a high risk complex bypass patient? He's not the typical CABG patient at all.😊
Also wondering if any of the surgeons there are experienced in LIMA patch angioplasty.

My uncle had bypass surgery at UTSW and he recommended I transfer my care to UTSW after I recently found out I needed surgery with a surgical oncologist. Really great staff and the nurses are so attentive and honestly the food isn’t terrible.
My only recommendation is post surgery, please advocate for yourself and speak up if something doesn’t feel right or you feel weird.

Very helpful, ty! Would love the name of his surgeon if you don't mind sharing.
Did he run into issues where he had to speak up after surgery?

I asked my aunt and she doesn’t remember :(
Honestly just post surgery it’s something I realized I needed to do! I didn’t speak up about a medical issue I was having and I was noticing but it was definitely something I should’ve brought up while I was there since I ended up having to go back to the ER after being discharged.
If you feel off or uncomfortable in anyway don’t be afraid to speak up, overnight hospital stays suck but going home before you’re ready is worse. I hope you feel better soon!

Great advice, I totally agree. TY!

I have no experience with the Plano hospital, but UTSW is amazing!

You can’t do any better in Dallas than UTSW. They are absolutely top of the line for complex procedures. I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

I had a Quadruple Bypass w Bovine Valve replacement in 2021 at BSW Plano and have had zero issues
