I had to use a pen to fill out my ballot at my location where everything was usually electronic. New requirements apparently to deter voting. I'm guessing next election we will vote by rock and chisel?
Dude answered you a few hours later: paper ballots cause longer wait times, longer lines, working-class people have less free time and are less likely to wait the longer the line
Younger people don't know how to use pencils due to MAGA Nazis defunding the schools. Thode brave young voters come to vote, realize there's no screen to touch, and run away, allowing the evil boomer republican to steal the election
Apparently it is Collin county that decided to ditch the electronic voting machines and have us all vote on paper. Maybe we should just go 100% mail in voting. That’s all on paper.
Yup. The bottleneck is the printing of the ballot. It took 20-30 seconds to print my ballot. Before it was couple of seconds. It doesn’t seem like much but the printing going to make the wait double easily.
There are some tax measures on the ballot that will effect all political beliefs. Regardless of political beliefs/stance, what the state spends our tax money on is important, I believe
Ban on capital gains tax, ban on inheritance tax - why do I get the feeling that people who would not be impacted by these taxes will overwhelmingly vote for their ban because “taxes bad”…
Voted no on all. Some have the potential to be helpful to some, but most just add loopholes for shady shit when you start looking at the verbiage. A lot of them pull money from schools, property tax increases, etc. The dementia research one sounds promising, but 3 billion dollars is funded by whom? Who controls that money? When do they have to use it by? It's too vague, and I don't trust that it isn't just going to line some politicians pockets.
Hi! Please take the time to read the measures carefully. I used vote411.org, there are summaries of each of the 17 measures that you can get through in about 15 mins.. Summary - a lot of permanent bans on taxing wealth like securities, capital gains, property/estates etc that will take money from away school districts. The most alarming is the one (prop 12) that allows for the governor to appoint representatives to courts.. extremely dangerous. Also note because these are going through elections and not the legislature most are permanently installed if we vote yes.
Hi! I, and in no way pressuring your vote, voted “no” on articles. Most of these articles are bad (I will decline to elaborate) and some are okay. But I personally feel that none of these are just to be addressed in Texas constitutional amendments. In my opinion, they would be far better served as bills to be voted into law by the legislature, where they can be more easily changed in the future, as the Texan constituency sees fit (assuming lawmakers listen to their constituents). On the bright side, voting no on everything makes it nice and quick. Took me about 3 minutes to get through the whole process.
Prop 12 is written confusingly and in the headline on the ballot mentions Judicial Conduct. But the meat of it is giving the Governor from current 3/5 appointments to the TX Supreme Court to 7/7. Taking away 2 from the Texas Bar and adding 2 more. Judges already face misconduct disciplinary action, this just streamlines them not having a hearing. I went into the voting booth looking for this legislation and still had to backtrack to make sure it was the right bill. This is HUGE and gives the Governor way too much power over the TX Supreme Court.
Thank you for bringing this up. So if I agree with you should I vote no on Prop 12? Internet is a little spotty so the website you linked isn't behaving.
VOTE NO on 12 if you would like to keep 2 appointments for the TX Bar Association and 3 for Governor Abbott. Vote Yes if you want Greg Abbott to have 7/7 appointees with no other representation. The Governor would gain ALL appointees inside Texas. This appoints him control of the Texas Supreme Court with no checks or balances since the US scotus are 6. Please vote no on 12.
Correct - If you don't believe our governor should be able to choose all 7 members you should vote "NO" on Prop 12.
Prop 12 is meant to "change membership & authority of State Commission on Judicial Conduct". We currently allow the Texas bar to appoint 2 members. If this amendment is approved, it gives all of the power to choose to the governor.
There is other items in it, like adjusting their salaries, but this is the crux of it.
Yeah the Texas Legislature just passed a law allowing cities to move to November. But only if they do it by the end of 2026 (not sure why there's a cutoff). I think it makes sense to simplify it and have everything on the same day, but I haven't seen any cities other than Dallas take the opportunity
Look up Allison Mitchell on Instagram, she is running for state house. She gives an easy-to-understand breakdown of each of the propositions. Here is her cheat sheet.
Honestly, purely curious, but why? Its all bonds, mostly tax/spending decisions for the state that effect everyone regardless of political viewpoints. There are, as always, some purely political measures on the ballot, so just curious about your response.
The best way to do this is to read the proposed amendments on your own time, and just note ‘yes’ or ‘no’ by the number. Do this on a separate piece of paper, as you can’t use a list from your phone.
You can vote for, against, or nothing for every ballot entry. Leaving votes blank is common when candidates you oppose are running unopposed. Just leave it blank.

I'm voting no on everything except 7 and 12. I don't see any reason all of these need to be codified into the Twxas Constitution.

Could you explain your reasoning for voting yes on those?
Also, why did you vote yes on 13 but no on 11?
