Is Salta Argentina worth it to escape the winter for two months?

I want to escape the winter by going to Latin America during January and February. I really want to go to Argentina and I wanted to go to Buenos Aires or Córdoba, but they seem to be very hot during those months.
Salta seems to have similar temperatures to where I live in the summer which seems perfect to me. Is there any other reason to not go there? Would you recommended it?
Also is it a bad idea to fly into Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia and then take buses to Salta? The flight there is about $280 USD cheaper. Obviously the buses will cost money, but I doubt they will cost more and that way I'll get to spend a night in Bolivia and take a scenic route through Bolivia and Argentina.

Salta is at relatively high elevation compared to Cordoba, and so will be cooler. Very scenic area. Pretty sleepy too. Great wine. I’d nix the Bolivia/bus idea. I’ve done long bus trips in Bolivia, and they tend to be crowded, dusty, uncomfortable and sometimes dicey. You’ll have a great time in Salta. Watch your belongings. Petty crime is a real thing in Argentina.

Check the visa costs for Bolivia before choosing your flights - I was told a couple of years ago that they're very high for US citizens so it might mean the flight there isn't worth it. Having said that, Bolivia's an amazing place to see so I'd recommend!

Depends what you wanna do, I was down in Argentina for 6 weeks last feb, I did a Spanish language program for the month in BA and then rented a motorbike for 2 weeks out of Salta and explored around, I was happy for the couple days in Salta but much more happy to have more extensive city to explore around on the daily after class in BA, weather was a bit hot from 2-5 but by that time I had explored a nice walk after morning class and went back to air conditioned, I was ready to nap and chill till evening

I've been to Buenos Aires in January. I would not say it's very hot, but very comfortable! I delightful city to explore, too.

Thanks! I don't mind the heat but I've heard everyone leaves during those months and I want it to be as easy as possible to make friends (obviously they won't be super deep friendships due to the time constraints)

School is out during mid-december through March so they'll be a lot of free time for people
