I have £180 to my name, can I go on holiday anywhere with this

I am completely okay if I can’t go on holiday with this amount of money- I completely understand as it isn’t a lot- but can anyone think of a place I could go- happy to do a staycation in England
IBustFatNuts@reddit
You should probably go on holiday to school and learn how to stack ya paper game up son you broke azz MF asking bout holidays lmao chavs smh, you been watching too many jet 2 holiday ads
BingerFang10@reddit
You should both get Ryanair flights somewhere with hand luggage only for a long weekend somewhere cheap, depends where you are flying from but I'd head to eastern Europe
iHateReddit_srsly@reddit
Eastern Europe is already pretty cold this time of year, I'd go somewhere south...
Wxze@reddit
Cold = cheap... so its obv a good option (can walk the streets, see museums, try food, etc.)
jana_rose@reddit
Eastern Europe is a solid call! You could check out places like Budapest or Prague, they’re usually pretty affordable and have a lot to offer. Just keep an eye on the flight deals!
Akash_nu@reddit
Don’t think touristy cities like Budapest or Prague will fit in that budget.
Rich_Sherbert2559@reddit
Budapest is most definitely possible with this kind of money, altough only in off season. Apartment/ hotel rooms between 30-50€. Food, drink and transportation are also quite cheap, especially if you leave the city center.
Yorks_Rider@reddit
Prague is not that cheap.
Chonkthebonk@reddit
This is the answer! Go sky scanner find the cheapest tickets somewhere random find the cheapest accomodation there or camp and you guys will have a wicked memorable trip
Crafty-Warthog-1493@reddit
Go into local travel agents and you might get a good last minute deal (worked for me on a shoestring in the past).
Canaries are warm at this time of year so a good shout. Theres some on here that might fit your brief (I selected the Midlands because i've no idea where you are). Dont know how bougie you are but doubt you'll be able to be on your budget, but memories outweigh non-fancy hotels!

Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
Sure you can, I’ve done many 4-5 day solo or pair trips for under that. With this budget you’ll probably have to stay in Europe (or Morocco, Turkey is still possible).
Just go to google flights, put in flexible dates and type in “Anywhere” or “Explore” as a destination and open the map. If you live in London, it will literally give you dozens of places for under £50 return flight, but you’ll still probably find some from Manchester/Liverpool/Edinburgh, etc.
Now try to select cheap destinations (like basically anywhere in the Balkans, south of Spain/Italy/Portugal or Eastern Europe). You can find very basic cheap accomodations in these countries for £10/night/person (especially for 2 people). Eat breakfast and lunch from supermarket or street food which is usually around £3/meal and go to a mid-range restaurant for dinner for lets say £9, which makes your total £15/day for food.
A 5-day budget trip in total usually costs me: - 2x £15 Airport transfer - 2x £20 Ryanair/Wizz/easyjet flight - 4x £10/night hotel - 5x £15/day food
£185/person in total. This is obviously just the basic stuff, you might want to include some budget for drinks, entry tickets, roaming or visa fees, etc.
George_Salt@reddit
2008 rang and asked for their prices back. No way you're doing that at that budget anywhere in Europe in 2025.
And no way are you going to persuade immigration that you meet the subsistence requirements for Schengen by showing them your plans for poverty-spec trip. Subsistence guidance ranges from 40-100 EUR/day.
Glum-Candle5659@reddit
I went to Greece for 5 days in August for £200. Lovely guesthouse in a beautiful town on Crete island. In August! You could easily do it on this budget if you plan ahead!
Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
Lol, yes I do. I did multiple 3-5 day trips from London to Europe for less than £200 (incl. flights, trains, accomodation and food). I usually book to somewhere where I see ridiculously low prices on both flights and hostels.
Also, I never seen immigration questioning anyone from UK to EU, especially not on budget
Serious_Escape_5438@reddit
Definitely no accommodation for that price in Spain or Italy these days. Or dinner for £9 in a mid range restaurant.
Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
I think both meal and accomodation prices are doable in all places I mentioned. If you go to Albania, Montenegro, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, etc. you will most definitely find a basic cheap accomodation for £10/person/night, most reaturants sell main meals for £9 or less and buying a sandwich or some pastries can be done for under £3/person.
You are right that Southern Italy and Southern Spain are the higher end of this list, and there, these prices are rather the very minimum, but there are still a few places where these are doable. I visited both places earlier this year and accomodation in several towns in Sicily and Andaluzia were £10/night/person (when booked for multiple nights for 2 people). I checked booking.com now and still see a few options in the coming months (hostels with private room and shared bathroom) for that price. Supermarkets are very cheap in these countries so breakfast/lunch should be around the same as in Eastern Europe. £9/dinner meal (which is around €10.50) is the lower end, but I was able to find decent pizza/pasta/risotto for around €5-8 in some restaurants in Sicily and for €8-12 in some restaurants in Southern Spain.
So if you would decide to go to these places just keep in mind that you’ll have to look up specific budget hostels and restaurants before you go.
HouseAgitatedPotato@reddit
Just checked the cheapest HOSTEL in Vilnius is 16€ per person. But Bucharest in November has actually good deals for 46€ a nigh a small apartment.
Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
I see prices on booking.com for less than £9/night/person for both cities on random dates in November. I even see private room hostels for around £10-12/night (when searching for 2 people for multiple nights)
HouseAgitatedPotato@reddit
Yeah, if you want to stay in a place with a rating 4-5 out of 10. Which probably means bed bugs or not safe. No thank you.
Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
Yeah, right. OP posted about having a very tight budget, and I was just saying that it is absolutely doable, not that its comfortable. You definitely won’t get anything really nice for this budget, as the majority of them has 4-5 stars as you mentioned but you can actually run into a very few 7-8 starred ones
HouseAgitatedPotato@reddit
Yeah, but it's better to go for one night only, or two nights in a decent place, self catering, with flights for 20-30 each, than stay in a dodgy hostel. Especially that they're very young and not well travelled so I would not recommend them staying in a hostel that is 4/5 out of 10 to begin with.
Serious_Escape_5438@reddit
Any accommodation that cheap in Spain is somewhere completely non touristy or sketchy, OP is 17, even if the hotel allowed them it would be a terrible idea to attempt to travel somewhere random or stay somewhere like that.
Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
Yeah you’re right, I missed that she’s 17. I was talking from own experience, I usually risk staying at sketchy places to save some money. Than, they’ll be probably better off in Eastern Europe where they could book a decent option with this budget.
garis53@reddit
It's not the peak season anymore. Last year in Sicily the prices were more or less like this
Serious_Escape_5438@reddit
Maybe Sicily, not Spain or anywhere further north in Italy. Prices are not going down anywhere.
garis53@reddit
Yes, northern Italy is very expensive atm. Spain wasn't as bad outside the biggest cities
Serious_Escape_5438@reddit
I live in Spain, prices have soared. Even in the shitty rural towns with no tourists you're not getting a whole dinner for that price. One dish maybe, but by the time you add drinks alone it will be more. And hostels are only a thing in already touristy places. But those are prices from about 15 years ago in general. Spain is cheaper than Italy, but not that cheap.
HouseAgitatedPotato@reddit
10 per night to sleep? Where? Maybe before COVID you could find a hostel for that price, but not anymore.
Live_Aardvark_7600@reddit
There are still many hostels (bunk bed ones) who charge £10/night or less in many European countries. Just checked on booking.com and Vilnius, Riga, Budapest, Bucharest, Tirana all have hostels for these prices on random November dates when you book for multiple nights.
jakubho@reddit
Deffo doable. Fly somewhere with cheap flights. Search Skyscanner or similar website with a query like "anywhere in November". Choose one of the cheap ones, there are usually cheap £20 flights to places like Krakow, Milan, Palma... Then get a cheap accom - you might be able to find a cheap Airbnb or hotel with your friend, but I would also suggest looking into hostels - usually around £20 per night per person. It's cheap and you will meet other young people traveling, just make sure to get a good one with good reviews. I recommend searching on hostelworld. If you find one with a kitchen, it will help you save money on food. If not, just stick to supermarkets or cheap places like McDonald's. Either way this plan should still leave you a bit to spend on stuff like sights etc.
Darrowby_385@reddit
Blackpool.
AccomplishedMove3149@reddit
Go to Prague or Sofia for a day or 2. Maybe even Bucharest depending on local flights
cev2002@reddit
Search Ryanair/Wizz for very cheap flights to Poland etc, stay in a hostel and eat from the supermarket and 4/5 days should be doable for £280.
BritishPoppy2009@reddit

Porkenmorgan@reddit (OP)
Oh I still live at home with my parents, this is just everything I’ve saved from birthdays and Christmas es (I’m 17)

You could probably get a cheap all inclusive somewhere, last minute deals

Go to Turkey ( see my previous reply). Bargain. Look on loveholidays or holidaygems.

Would definitely get some travel insurance and ability to access emergency funds (parents?) in case something unexpected happens.
AndyVale@reddit
With £560 for two? Absolutely.
lambdavi@reddit
Hi.
Assuming you live in the UK, please be informed that although many airlines will allow you to board travelling alone "16 and over", many Customs of destination Countries might refuse entry because you're a minor.
So, either you travel on your 18th birthday, or you may need your parents' written permission, validated by your local Police Constabulary.
I may be overcautious, but what are you going to do the moment you arrive in Malta, Marbella or Madrid and they whisky you off on the first flight back home?
No-Airline-9672@reddit
I think this is doable.. Especially if you’re flexible on where and when. You could stretch it a bit by paying Clearpay or Klarna. I believe sites like Fly Fairly let you book flights with those, so you can split the cost over a few installments instead of paying everything upfront. Could help free up a little extra for your stay!
Also worth checking last-minute deals or budget airlines with sales on. Staycations can be great too if you pick somewhere new-to-you and cozy!
slutmuffin2@reddit
There are websites specifically designed for really cheap trips abroad over a weekend - like £100ish. Obviously you have to factor in travel to the airport etc but often you can get buses which are cheaper than trains (but can take longer)
The one I’ve used before is cheekyweekendtrips.com

Darling hold my hand!!! Nothing beats a jet 2 holiday and right now you can save £50 per person. That's 200 off for a family of four
djcarpets@reddit
Booked Bratislava last week, fly out Wednesday back Saturday, 37 return flight and hot was 40 total for the stay
seekingfreedom00@reddit
You should also ask your parents for an emergency credit card if that's literally all the money you have. Shit happens traveling.
WhiskyBrisky@reddit
Me and my gf got return tickets to Bucharest for like £50 each in 2024. I can't remember exactly how much we spent but it was definitely under £300 for the week (6 days) Got a good deal on a nice Airbnb, food is cheap and good. 20 something £ tour that takes you to castles, spent a few nights in Brasov and then back home.
tekkie74@reddit
Krakow Poland should have cheap flights and accomodation, lots to do for a few days.
Jolly-Statistician37@reddit
Travelling as a minor comes with a lot of extra hassle (hotels that won't accept you, parental authorization, etc.). Maybe save up for a few more months until your 18th birthday? If you are able to get to, say, £350-400 each, it opens a lot of package options if you want to leave the country.
PinkSeaBird@reddit
Not if you want to end up living in the streets in a foreign country.
silver70seven@reddit
Hard no
silver70seven@reddit
Oh then yes.
Green-Wrongdoer-531@reddit
Look at flight companies route planner with price for dates from a airport mear you amd youll find the first amswer (is it even possible). Then there is the age thing....maybe be a bit mpre through than mistyping and from 180 it becomes 280 that suddenly then is mpt I but we and 560. A trainride to try Harry Potter train pr Edinbourg seems doable but since you mention zero thing as most people of what you like, its useless to suggest. Beach in sicily or puglia is nice in november.........titanic museum?
garis53@reddit
If you can go from London, you have a ton of options as the flights from there are really cheap. At this time I'd go to southern spain or Italy as the weather could still be alright. Take hand luggage only and with that budget and two people you can easily take even some cheap room for yourself for three or four nights
FoxtrotKiloMikeEcho@reddit
Go somewhere cheap like the Balkans for a weekend or something.
inmidSeasonForm@reddit
I’m nervous for you going without any “just in case” money - I assume you have a credit card or something for emergencies? Just thinking like an old person here but I’ve had the emergencies, so I now think that way! Maybe enjoy the daydreaming for a while you save up just a little bit more? You have time!
qt4u2nv@reddit
Leaving the country with less than £1k is crazy. At least have £500. Anything could happen.
Jankye1987@reddit
Yes absolutely you can. Or I can, so you should be able to aswell if you’re flexible on dates and you don’t expect too much.
I just had a look and can get flight and accommodation in agadir next month for around £150 for 3 nights.
That would still leave you with £400 to spend.
There’s loads of options.
whoshannah@reddit
download the app LuckyTrip - you can put in your budget, vibe, dates, whatever and it will give you options for flights, accommodation and something (usually free and) fun to do
bitx284@reddit
I wouldn't recommend you do it. If something happen while you are abroad, maybe a delay, you would so vulnerable without money
Lmao45454@reddit
Stay home and save
LengthinessLow8317@reddit
I'd recommend waiting and going when you have more money saved up. Even with your boyfriend chipping in, that is not a lot to work with
Serious_Escape_5438@reddit
And having an emergency fund in case anything happens.
cavergirl@reddit
A weekend at a YHA cab be as cheap as £30 in a shared dorm, and being under 18 is fine

This is probably the smartest and safest idea for OP. Someone that age unable to research their own travel shouldn't be flying abroad alone.

Currently on a week's break in Yorkshire. Okay, it's a caravan but it was 200 quid for the week in a nice, clean, quiet site right on the beach. Took the dog and child too, a breaks a break! Depends on what you want.
FreshEcho6021@reddit
You should probably save that until you find a job but Ryanair / easyjet/ wizz could probably get you to somewhere in Eastern Europe where you would last comfortably for a week at hotels outside of city centre (hostels would be cheaper of course). I can recommend both Bosnia and Poland from personal experience and I’ve heard good things about Albania. Poland is a fair bit more expensive than the balkans though, but some things like food and drink are still much cheaper than in the uk. If you’re ok staying at an easyhotel or Travelodge it can be quite cheap to stay in the uk as well but I find their prices vary a lot from month to month.
alico127@reddit
Get the loveholidays app, search by price: low to high. Prices start at around £100 per person!

Here in the USA, we have something coined "Staycations." We don't do "Holidays" we do "Vacations" hence, staycations. It means we stay at home. Relaxing, reading, writing, and visiting friends and family. If we have a pool, invite friends. Have a potluck (everyone brings a dish) and just have fun.

Check out holiday pirates.
Saw one for less than £200 quid for 3 nights in Morocco. Won't be luxury and hand luggage only, but fun and leaves you with some money for food.
They have similar cheap deals and weekends away all the time to a few places in Europe. Christmas markets etc.
RipsnRaw@reddit
You could possibly do a weekend away, but a full holiday is likely out of the question for £560 for 2 people, and even then you’d be pushing it a bit when factoring in transport and accommodation. For that budget it’d be more realistic to have a nice day out.
Scary-Try3023@reddit

Hour-Cup-7629@reddit
Depends on your dates, if you are flexible and the airport. I did a quick search on skyscanner for November. Its a really cheap month to go anywhere. So go and have a fiddle with that to start. Get a few destinations in mind then look at hostels for somewhere to stay. I’ve traveled all over Europe in hostels and they have all been very decent. Some include a basic breakfast as well. Rule of thumb, the further east you go the cheaper it gets. Ive been to Latvia, Poland, France, Spain and Italy this year all on a real budget. Depends what you want to do. I dont really drink alcohol much and I tend to get food in supermarkets. But sometimes I sit with a coffee and just enjoy being there.

I use Skyscanner for situations like this, you can put your destination as anywhere and find the cheapest flights within your date range.
Also, where in the UK are you? Can get to a few European cities via Eurostar if you're in London.
BoringCell3591@reddit
I mean you can honestly make a small trip work on any budget, but we need way more information. Where do you live, what are you interested in, do you have a car, etc? A comment says you’re 17. You wouldn’t be able to get a hotel in the US at that age but I don’t know how it works in the UK. Is your bf old enough to get a hotel? If not, seems like you’re limited to camping and an experience centered around nature.
