If Everbody Loves Raymond can do a 30th reunion special…

Would you be down to watch a Xena 30th? Maybe condense the ne’er be made movie into multi part special? Finally reunite the heroines?? Maybe Xena ages in the halfway realm because she’s not truly dead.
What do you think it would take to bring the cast together again?

Ooo, I'm not a reboot fan, but I wouldn't mind a one-shot with the cast playing their aged characters. It could be some alternate reality they find themselves in -- alive or otherwise. The deceased Xena or Ephiny might be surprised at having wrinkles in this realm, while Aphrodite would have a hissy fit. Half the show could be a story utilizing ideas (and old footage if possible) in a tailormade scenario. The other half could have cast talking about what it's like getting the old gang back together.

I didn’t give a lot of thought or explanation (my bad!) to this but yes, in my simple little mind it would have to be as many of the original writers, etc as possible and maybe just maybe letting Xena have a little better eternity in the end with her friends that have gone before (could even be that Gabrielle’s time is almost up) and then a cast reflection for sure could add to it. At the danger of sounding like I want to wrap things up in a happy little ending… it does bother me that we don’t know how Xena’s soul is released. I mean, it has to be for all those reincarnations right? 🤔

I'm thinking an alternate reality or weird realm where Xenastaff could make up whatever they want about where the characters are, when and why. That might be easier than trying to explain the aging, wrap things or conjure up continuity based on what we actually saw. It could be a waste assembling everyone but focusing most on Xena's afterlife or resurrection, unless all were involved somehow. Whatever add-ons Xenastaff came up with because of AFIN could easily fail to satisfy lingering questions or disappointment.
The characters could still chat about the good times, what each has been doing for 25 or so years, share old grievances, regrets, wishes, etc. The Fates could explain they were all meant to be interacting with each other, the threads got tampered with somehow, so the Fates created an opportunity for them to be or see what was intended. For me, the enjoyment would simply be seeing everyone together again, reuniting the "family." I don't expect anything else to come as close to recapturing what I felt about the original show.

Um... Peter Boyle and Doris Roberts are both gone...

I think a reunion would ruin the finale plus the only cast that could return is Lucy and Renee. Main side characters of the series cant return as they already killed off Joxer and Kevin Smith passed years ago so that means no Ares.
PirateJen78@reddit
Xena died and insisted on staying dead, so it would basically just be Gabrielle.
Agent8699@reddit
Nah. Gabrielle fixed that in Egypt. Or can fix it in the revival - it’s not like Lawless has aged since 2001!

Surely some other cast could be available? Callisto? Eve? Ephiny? Joker as a ghost lol
True in Ares but the show was shifting from the polytheism to the monotheism model already so it could very well be at the point all the classical gods are dead.
Deraj2004@reddit
Callisto's arc was ended perfectly imo, Eve or Ephiphany maybe. Ares is canonally still around as he lived long enough to pop up in the 90's in Hercules during the episode where Herc took the name Kevin Sorbo and plays himself on TV (goofy as universe lol).
PirateJen78@reddit
Hmm... I forgot about Herc actually being Kevin Sorbo. That didn't age well...

They don’t mean a reboot of the series, they’re talking about a reunion special where the actors of the show get together to talk about their experiences and whatnot.
rockandrollfun@reddit (OP)
Actually, I do mean one off continuation of the storyline with its own resolution (again.) Not a reboot per se, no expectation of a series. More like a “30 years has passed in the Xenaverse” epilogue.
I didn’t actually read/watch the Everybody Loves Raymond blurb, lol, I have never been interested in watching that show, so forgive me if it’s just the cast getting together to talk about it.
I’m working my way through season 1 so I don’t really need to be itching for an epilogue already, but couldn’t help but wonder if it could be pulled off.
Last-Juggernaut4664@reddit
Um. OK. It’s just the still living cast getting together for a reunion. Most of the actors who made that show funny are dead, so a reboot is totally out of the question. Yeah, so not at all relevant to what you’re talking about.

::tips hat:: I’ll see myself out now
Agent8699@reddit
Of course I would watch it!
As for what it would take - NBC Universal would need to be interested in the idea. Lawless and ROC have both indicated they would reprise their iconic roles on a limited basis.
Rob Tapert would be a harder sell - if they wanted him to be involved too, since his most recent comments earlier this year indicate that he’s working on a big screen / blockbuster reboot of Xena to presumably pitch to NBC Universal.
Really, it’s all up to NBC Universal. They own the brand. They need to be the ones to push for a limited revival with Lawless and ROC. Until they show interest in the idea, it won’t happen.

I'd love a sit down cast reunion, not some money grab by WB (or Universal or whoever in the world currently owns the Xena rights). So... yeah, hell no to some sort of half assed movie thing (I don't want a reboot either, if they can come up with a non-sucky continuation of the series, with a kid or a kid of a kid of one of them, and then someone new too, that'd be good. But, a rehash will be as shitty as Discovery or half of the Star Wars crap has been. So, no, just no).
rockandrollfun@reddit (OP)
With you 100% on that. No reboot, no fresh takes on the characters, no “modernization”

A Xena Reunion would actually be worth watching, unlike the Everybody Loves Raymond Reunion. Everyone who made the series great is still alive, with the exception of Kevin Smith, and they don’t have a problematic lead actress who’s now a rightwing fanatic.
ShutupNobodyCarez@reddit
Are you referring to an actress from Everybody Loves Raymond or from somewhere else? What actress is a ring-wing fanatic?
Last-Juggernaut4664@reddit
Patricia Heaton, the actress who played Debra, is a big Trumper. You know, the one twin on the show committed suicide in real life, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because he was gay. People like her are the reason this happens.
Technical_Activity78@reddit
Wow way to jump to a loooong conclusion
FirebirdWriter@reddit
The show was always a conservative thing. So it's not a shock if you Google the cast. It was never for me but Mother and her husband Raymond were obsessed. Ironically no one likes or loves that Raymond
Shadoecat150@reddit
Will there be Goddess caused noodling mischief?
BlueSonic85@reddit
I assume the Everybody Loves Raymond reunion will be like the Friends reunion where the actors get together to reminisce rather than a new episode. I'd be up for something like that for Xena.
primal_slayer@reddit
Nbc would want to host a reunion.
