There are lots of algorithmic approaches to redistricting that would solve the issue. E.g., ReCom, which uses Markov chains, developed by Harvard and MIT professors.

Yep there are many good ideas that will never be implemented because of shitty politic$. I think the broader issue is that state politician$ who are in the majority want gerrymandering to increase their party’s seats. Also, there’s lack of awareness, and no popular push for such a reform.
