So you get República Dominica as a country for instance as well as Hrvastka.

Truly a crazy idea.
They are trying to do that. The problem is that most languages use the Roman alphabet but pronounce everything differently. Get an English speaker to read a Polish word and you'll get gibberish.
Better to let each linguistic group to transliterate an agreed upon name. Trying to figure out which name is "native" just leads to genocidal conflicts.
