I put a lot of info in the image description that's unfortunately easy to miss in the app (only shows if you fullscreen the images without hiding the UI), and it seems the regular text doesn't show in the crosspost either.
I think the exciting thing about this ThinkPad is in how many regards it is at the joint of the past and modern era in the wider sense. There's the weird IBM/Lenovo dual branding, the oldschool 4:3 screen but it's basically cropped Full HD (1400x1050). The CPU is the first or second of Intel's Core series and either the last 32 Bit only chip or (like in this unit) the first 64 Bit chip - but the chipset still bottlenecks the setup to 3 GB RAM. And the GPU is one of the last ATI chips before they were bought by AMD.
I love these things. I use one with an SSD and 4GB of RAM running Debian as my 'notification proof' writing machine. It runs screenwriting software (FadeIn) and outlining software (i use Emacs for this like a psycho) and can run one window of Google Docs if I'm feeling lucky, alongside the stock Dropbox client. The keyboard is just so nice. Don't make 'em like they used to.
