Pretty happy with how it's turned out. Start building it out soon. Just waiting on a few more parts. Thinking this socket 775 board - 7800GT and a QX9650.. but also thinking it could be something closer to 2001.. open to opinions!

I have a Cheiftech Dragon (blue) - very similar case.

Maybe a modern setup and TrueNAS HomeLab HomeServer DataHoarder if ya can't think of a retro-vintage thing to do... ?
And,Yeah ... What-a-beaut!

Nice job, what did you use to cut the window out? I have a purple alienware variant. Would love to get a clear side panel made for it.

a good friend of mine is a signwriter and has his own CNC gear. Its usually used on plastics or very thin sheet metal - so this was a new thing for him - He took it nice and slow - made 3 passes on it and It came out awesome. I wanted to put the edging around it just to make it look a little more complete / factory.

Now you just need some cathode tubes to go in there! Looks great!

Nice work, looks clean! I did a couple window mods but it's tough to make them look stock.
QX9650 on a 775 board would be badass. Personally I'd go for a faster GPU, at least an 8800 or 9800 GT if you can find one working. Apparently they suffer from a consistent issue, but just past the 9800s it got better. I used a 560 Ti for a long time with my Q6600 which is slower than a QX9650.
This could be a cool case for 2001 build too, but this style of case feels more like mid-2000s to me.

Stick a Xeon X5460 in there and that thing will rip

My dad had that case as his server

Used to have the Plus View and that Zalman years ago, very nostalgic combi there. One paticular upgrade I ended up modding the PSU bracket to invert it for better cable management, so the main harness was towards the back of the case (when viewed from the window).

I had an Antec case back then. Very well made. That Zalman cooler brings back memories too.

Now that's a beauty.
