DIve bars / Happy hour spots in Downtown or Deep Ellum?

My wife and I are coming to downtown Dallas in a few weeks and are looking for dive bar suggestions in the Downtown or Deep Ellum areas - especially places with recommended happy hours. Also, we’re interested in spots open for daytime/afternoon drinking. Thanks!

One Eyed Penguin in DT is good. But be careful with your card behind the bar. Mine had a fair bit extra added.

In downtown: for a faux “divey” atmosphere, go to Rodeo Bar. They have great bar food and happy hour drinks. For more of a true dive, go to City Tavern. And while it’s a sports bar, Frankie’s may be up your alley-it has great food and happy hour specials as well. Just don’t go to Cowboy Chow-it’s not what you’re looking for anyway, but the food, drinks, and service suck.
