It seems obvious to me but we should freeze icebergs and the polar caps to stop them from melting.

I couldn't find a r/onvioisidea

Why not simply move the earth farther away from the sun. Problem solved.

I suddenly have a splitting headache.

I was listening to an interview last night with Jeff Gordon where talked about his wife asking why he, the best driver in the race, didn't simply pass the other cars.

So we just need to build a pair of freezers big enough to put the Arctic and Antarctica in.
How hard could it be...
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
Where to plug it in is going to be the hard part.
Random_Guy_47@reddit
We could build a nuclear power plant next to the freezers.
MagnificentBastard-1@reddit
Well, this is r/CrazyIdeas not r/CrazyImplementations. 🤷♂️

Step 1: remove heat from melting icebergs. Okay cool.
Step 2: What do we do with the heat generated from the refrigeration process?
BirbFeetzz@reddit
get a big cube of some metal that is hard to heat up, heat it up to as much as possible, shoot it out to space

The ocean is really big, just put it there and no one will notice.
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
About of fish would be like oh this feels nice.
mammothpiss@reddit
That makes sense to me. Let’s do this shit
ZachMudskipper@reddit
It's the bad green algae you gotta worry about
Turbulent-Name-8349@reddit
Why not? ...
Tow icebergs up to higher latitudes to stop them from melting.
It's way easier to tow an iceberg than to freeze it.
And as for incipient large icebergs from ice sheets, such as A-68 on the Larsen ice shelf, just chain them in place, save on towing costs.

Here is an animation showing off this concept:

A very under rated documentary on the environment.
Jaysnewphone@reddit
Hey you. Stop that melting right this second.
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
That might work. Works with kids. Or maybe even peer pressure from glaciers.
Jechtael@reddit
I spent so much time laughing condescendingly at that that I suffocated and died. You killed me, OP.
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
RIP my friend, RIP.

Give me an aircon unit large enough, and a window to put it in, and I will cool down the world.
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
Damnit, that's actually a better crazy idea. Lol.
NiceTryAmanda@reddit
dude this isn't r/goodideas
Im_at_a_10_AMA@reddit
Well I think you're onto something here.
Reggi5693@reddit
You have no idea how big the world is, do you?
ActorMonkey@reddit
What sub did you think you were in when you responded?
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
Pretty big? Like 5.9722×1024 kg to 10−4? Like bigger than a football but smaller than Sagittarius A* (my fave.)
magicmulder@reddit
Could work if we manage to build a freezer that emits zero heat. How hard can it be, it's called a freezer, amirite?
DEADFLY6@reddit
How do we freeze icebergs and polar caps? Oh wait. We can build the largest freezer ever. Silly me.
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
I mean I'm probably staying the obvious but yeah, it should be on wheels.
gominokouhai@reddit
It should be on skis.
troycalm@reddit
You’re smarter than bill nye
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit (OP)
Bill Nye the Science Gentleman?
sam99871@reddit
It would be easier and just as effective to launch them into space.
SkyGuy5799@reddit
Why can't we just reopen the hole in the ozone layer to let the hot air out?
Epyon214@reddit
Or we could, you know, use those solar panels which absorb infrared radiation at night
