Hey all just wanted to show off the latest acquisition to my retro UMPC collection!
I picked it up on eBay for a very reasonable price, I replaced the old drive with a 16GB CF to IDE converter and I got all the software from a C1MHP with an install of XP3. It’s fully functional now after hours of tinkering and it came with the max amount of RAM 🙂
I had a couple of questions, this is my first Crusoe device and was wondering is there any tips on these? And gaming wise does anyone know what the mobility Radeon on it is capable of? Oh and any software recommendations?
Many thanks!

MyPal is an ‘up to date’ Firefox browser for XP, well up to date enough for GitHub to work for example, but don’t expect YouTube to be able to play anything, not on that CPU :P Pair with NoScript or UBlock Origin and it’ll be about as “usable” on the web as you can get on XP

A UK market C1 keyboard? That's pretty epic to see.
As for gaming - the honest answer is that it's going to be a large voyage into the unknown. I've played a few games on a less capable Fujitsu Biblo Loox T9/80W, but that was probably more GPU limited than CPU limited, which this one is likely to be. It did play JJ2 fine though, from what I recall.

Hello, I have the same model, C1MZX. The real bottleneck in gaming here is Transmeta CPU, not Radeon M6 graphics. The M6 itself is a quite capable chip and can give pretty good results. My PCG-U101 that has the same Radeon M6 chip but Intel Celeron (600MHz) CPU is much better for gaming because of the CPU. Also, do you happen to have the original recovery discs for it or maybe images of them on the hard drive? I've been looking for them for ages to no avail.

Ah that is good to know, I am gonna try half life later and see how it runs. I don’t unfortunately, I had to get everything from the C1MHP recovery disks and installed everything manually. I wish that I did myself, aren’t they in Japanese? I’d at least like to get the drivers.
I could probably clone my drive at some point for you if that helps?

Yeah, the original discs are in Japanese, I'm just looking to restore the machine's software to be as original as possible. Right now mine also runs a generic WinXP SP3 install with C1MHP drivers and software on top. Also, C1MHP and C1MZX are within the same generation, so I'm sure you don't need C1MZX drivers specifically.

No advice for you sorry, but back in the day I had a C1-VE, I loved that little machine. Wish I'd never sold it.
