I suppose it’s an effective deterrent against speeding and people will see the car and behave themselves. But a parked cop car will also do that. Overall I don’t see a big benefit over just using drones to patrol.

I somehow have never heard of this, so I had to google it.

hitchbot didn’t travel on its own. It traveled by means of “hitchhiking”. People would bring it with them as they traveled, leaving it at a destination for someone else to pick it up.

A second hitchbot was made and hitched through Germany and the Netherlands.

It doesn’t say which hitchbot was the one decapitated in Philly, however, its head has never been found.
