Can somebody explain to me how this works?

How are they allowed to essentially build new cars of existing models from a different manufacturer, with logos and everything?

I don't think free market really in there. Indon like other third worlds, most people can't freely buy new car or own car. They would've to pay more price in because of high taxes and protection of local auto industry.

However, that's how they able to make classic car shops like this.

Designs are allegedly no longer protected by copyright on the designs they remake, & it is illegal to import used cars in Indonesia so they aren't competing, of course there is a donor car for the drivetrain & vin

Cars aren't covered by copyright since it's a useful device, it's design patents, and they are for a limited time.
