Anyone else move their tandems back and feel more unstable than forward?

For reference im in a daycab single screw. If I move them back to the legal maximum it feels like the trailer is making bigger push/pulls at the fifth wheel.

What do you mean single screw?

Boss man only gets his way with him once per day.

I always slide my tandems all the way forward. I like being able to turn and back easily

Im line haul so thats not really a huge concern for me

It's all about weight balancing.

Ive been working with the shipper on properly on this. It’s aircraft cans so we can’t just move a few pallets around or create space.

Do you have a 5th wheel psi gauge? Helps with the diving board feeling to stay heavier on your drives instead of just going to legal length. On a set of drive axles with a properly placed 5th wheel youre around 60 - im not sure if/how it changes with a single drive axle.

No its a 2016

Its simply physics my man. The weight on the axles change when u move the tandems...ideally u want the weight at even as possible across each axle...now in ur situation with 2 trailer axles and one drive axle...the rule of thumb might be different than most of us having 2 and 2 axles..

When I was company, I used to run tandems middle back in the summer and up front in the winter. I thought back was more comfortable and front gave me better traction. Current rig is heavy and isn't specced right for what I do and am all the way back with 13k on the steers.

Been driving for three years now. I have moved my tandems two times in total. I guess i kinda don’t care. I drive at night.

Ive been trying to get a better ride to combat the wind lately but it feels better/more stable with the tandems all the way up despite the math saying it shouldnt.
bicyclewhoa17@reddit
Are you operating old equipment?
Mydogfartsconstantly@reddit (OP)
We have a mix of old and new.

Ya know I used to and I then one day I just said fuck it I'm tired of doing it 10 times a night

That'd how levers work.

God I hate single axle daycabs sooo much. Ask your company for a twin screw. I promise it'll be alot better

They ordered new trucks over 6 months ago. They probably made a massive order for hundreds.
