Do you remember this iconic 80’s fad?
OkJob8464@reddit
Yep, had several. Could wear them forwards and backwards and usually with pegged acid washed jeans while cruising in my Toyota Corolla Tercel while jamming to Prince ❤️
eatzen13-what@reddit
I had an 88 Nissan Sentra.
JibbityJabbity@reddit
Toyota Corolla Tercel?
248Spacebucks@reddit
Im quite sure you had taco bangs and wings in your hair too!
AgileMastodon0909@reddit
I have never heard them called taco bangs but I immediately pictured them in my head 😂
Hellvira138@reddit
Same
GrayLightGo@reddit
How many pairs of big socks?
lsp2005@reddit
2, and they were really thick with extra material at the ankle.
CourageFamiliar8506@reddit
Different colors. Pink and white😆
CourageFamiliar8506@reddit
Two and aviator boots.
wyldstrawberry@reddit
There was another type of sweater I remember - I think they might have been called shaker knit, and the style was long and a bit baggy, and there was usually stripes or a contrasting color around the neckline (crew neck). I used to wear different colors of those with leggings every day of the week.
cat_fox@reddit
oh my gawd you remember the name! I had the white one and I would buy it right now if I could.
trUth_b0mbs@reddit
we used to wear those backwards with a black tight mini skirt lol
Snarky-Spanky@reddit
Omg…what were those called? You could wear it as a tube top, a mini skirt, a bandeau. I forget where they were from…like Cube or something? I honestly still have one or 2. I’m 55 😂
Snarky-Spanky@reddit
Wow! What a flashback. Also, Benetton. I loved the 80’s sooooo much♥️
drjen1974@reddit
We called them shaker sweaters (grew up in Illinois) and many of us had off brands like from Kohls or JC Penney but yes they were very beloved in the late 80s!
insecurecharm@reddit
I was not aware it had a name.
drjen1974@reddit
We called them shaker sweaters
TheNolaCatLady@reddit
Me neither. We usually wore knock off clothes, so my sweater was a Kmartzo.
SkyRabbitX@reddit
Unbidden popped into my head:
If it doesn't say FORENZA it's not FORENZA.
I can’t believe my brain has been carefully storing that all these years.
atomic_chippie@reddit
Pink one, white button up underneath, with the cotton and metal loop belt=perfect 🤌
Princessferfs@reddit
These were soooooooooo popular
WhoKnew50@reddit
Yes, also in royal blue sweater vest form.
Staff_photo@reddit
With an esprit shirt underneath even!! Oh lord.. 😂
drbutters76@reddit
I had the Esprit bags in many colors! And I wore benneton cologne!
squee_bastard@reddit
I had the black ESPRIT tote with each letter a different color, I absolutely loved that thing. I was also a big fan of the Colors perfume and the UCB makeup.
Pheighthe@reddit
I’d kill to smell the women’s Benetton again. I remember pineapples
Fantastic_You7208@reddit
I swear my right shoulder and upper back are effed to this day because of those bags and walking to school everyday (literally a mile each way lol)
GumbybyGum@reddit
I never had one. We were way too poor to shop at The Limited. 😥
therealgookachu@reddit
Same! Man, loved them, too, but couldn’t afford one.
Much-Friend-4023@reddit
I had two that I saved up to buy from my part time job at Hardee's. Meanwhile the rich girls had them in every color.
IndividualYam5889@reddit
Same. I wanted one desperately. Oh well.
No_Goose_7390@reddit
I had one and felt lucky to have that. I'm triggered over here by the people who had tons of them! What? Not even sure mine was from the Limited. I think it was a knock off.
Remember Members Only? I was rocking Membership Always, ha!
VirusOrganic4456@reddit
I had a few of the style but I don't think any of them actually came from the Limited.
Space_Oddity_2001@reddit
Same - I'm fairly certain mine came from K Mart.
Latter-Stage-2755@reddit
This needs to make a come back, immediately. I have yet to find a versatile and soft sweater since.
DuMondie@reddit
I had a butter yellow one! Totally forgot they had a name haha
Next, how about Fairisle sweaters!
MishtotheMitt@reddit
Fair isles are everywhere right now.
coffeeplease1972@reddit
Loved those sweaters. Paired with:
Forenza and Outback Red were my fave brands at The Limited back then.
MishtotheMitt@reddit
The brooch on the top button!!!!!
seesha@reddit
We were twins! My goal in life at that time was to buy all my clothes from the Limited. I loved Outback Red so much.
Academic_Ad_8229@reddit
God I miss The Limited
lovemydogs1969@reddit
I have an Olan Mills portrait in one of these sweaters with a printed Outback Red turtleneck underneath 😂
lilsqueakers@reddit
Perfect combo with pleated jeans. My friends and I all had tie dye versions from Maurices.
ddiknosaj@reddit
Picture 5: GO GAUCHOS!!!!!
RefugeefromSAforums@reddit
I wore mine with the Forenza baggy cargo pants with snap ankles. I loved those pants, didn't need a purse for all your shit. I would totally buy them again if they came back!
BetMyLastKrispyKreme@reddit
They look so freaking comfortable. I’d wear them, even though they’d make me look like the StayPuff Marshmallow Man. I’m old and am an official member of the We Do Not Care Club.

Honest-Layer9318@reddit
Dick’s carries joggers with six good size pockets. Loose fitting, lightweight and stretchy. I play golf in them and use the pockets on the legs for tees and whatnot. Modern day cargo pants but classy enough when worn with a golf shirt.
NegotiationNo7851@reddit
Link please. Pretty please?
RefugeefromSAforums@reddit
Yep! I don't give a shit about their opinion on my fashion but I won't pay $400 on old fashion.
ShortySmooth@reddit
Oh my gosh!! I had the same pair and LOVED them!! Mine were a dark gray, worn with my red Forenza sweater (white tee underneath) and black flats. They were long on me, so I just folded them over and rolled them up. I miss those pants, they were so comfortable and cute.
viognierette@reddit
I loved these pants so much! I had several colors (& the matching sweater).
I still have a recurring dream that I’m at my hometown mall & sorting through a pile of those sweaters!
no_talent_ass_clown@reddit
They remind me of the "stuff" monologue from Devil Wears Prada.
seesha@reddit
I had ones like these from the Limited and my mom was pissed I bought them. She thought they were horrid.
RandomBeverly@reddit
I had one in peach.. I wore it all the time with a black moc neck shirt and black mini skirt.. it was one of my favorite outfits!! Also had very curly permed hair with straight bangs!
cabbage_patch_cutie@reddit
Never knew that name. We called them Shaker sweaters in my part of the midwest. And you were scandalous if you wore it backwards.
drunkenknitter@reddit
Yessss shaker sweaters!
ShartlesAndJames@reddit
omg yessssss
Professional-Day-748@reddit
Yes! With the thick loop belt.
No-Regular-4281@reddit
Is that chenille
Carinyosa99@reddit
I wanted one so bad but I didn't have a job and my mom only shopped for me at Sears and Penney's. ICK!!! If I was lucky, maybe Hechts (which was taken over by Macys and it was similar). I remember getting a Forenza t-shirt once when I had saved up allowance money.
XerTrekker@reddit
I had a few of these though I think my brands were Limited and/or Outback Red.
scornedandhangry@reddit
Yes!!!! Worn with tank top underneath and extra long charm necklace
5thStESt@reddit
Mine was lavender. My most treasured piece of clothing behind my royal purple esprit sweatshirt. Purple is still my favorite color
vbtodenver@reddit
I want one now!
iowanawoi@reddit
This and the heady aroma of Benetton Colors
JennWG888@reddit
God I loved that perfume!
10000thmaniac@reddit
I would wear one now if I could find one.
Positive-Froyo-1732@reddit
I was not at all a trendy person in the 80s, and I had a couple of these. Probably an off-brand rather than Forenza, though.
BassKitty305017@reddit
Yes, but in day-glow neon green. 80s was the new wave of neon decade and it was glorious.
TruvysWest@reddit
Just took a ride in the DeLorean with this post
beezus_18@reddit
lol
Rough_Respect6192@reddit
In every color, yes
everyoneisnuts@reddit
Shoulder pads separate or part of it?
NateNMaxsRobot@reddit
I used to have extra shoulder pads in my purse. Just in case there was an emergency, I guess.
everyoneisnuts@reddit
You never know. Can’t be too prepared!
confussied@reddit
Whoa, I have not given this sweater (that was my whole personality) a single thought since I owned it! And suddenly, I'm have an entire sensory flashback -- the texture & the damn baggy sleeves that wouldn't stay up.
lalacourtney@reddit
OMG yes I remember her well. On my mommy, 80s
AnonymousPerson-16@reddit
I had a few. Light pink, white with peach and grey stripes...
kennikus@reddit
oh my word, I had this exact color thank you!!!!
lsp2005@reddit
I owned this sweater in this color. Loved the limited.
angelaelle@reddit
I had a bunch of those - magenta, teal, black, red and I think either navy blue or purple and wore them with my Girbaud jeans.
grl_of_action@reddit
I bought my Girbaud jeans (and a flannel) with a gift certificate I won in a radio station giveaway, which included a limousine ride with the morning show DJ's to a meet and greet at the store with Jason Priestley from Beverly Hills 90210. I was placed first in line. Mind you I was 21...there was a sea of squealing teenage girls in line behind me. I thought it would be funny to meet him and I really wanted that gift certificate! He was friendly, shorter than I would have guessed, and asked me if my nose piercing had hurt.
Lost the jeans but still have the flannel.
Thanks for unlocking that memory this morning.
Stop_The_Crazy@reddit
Worn with Jordache or Bongo jeans.
Olderbutnotdead619@reddit
Totally had a couple of these!! Miller's Outpost was the best!!
PrognosticPeriwinkle@reddit
Forgot about these. Yes, I had several. How did you find so many pictures? 😂
texasbelle778@reddit
Omg I forgot about these!! I had one in every color
Frazzled_Vitality@reddit
Worn oversized and backwards over a racerback tank top. I just told my daughter and she asked me if I meant "razorback". 😑
UsualCharacter@reddit
Memory unlocked! Used to wear a hot pink Forenza sweater all the time. So versatile. Tank top underneath and the sweater roomy enough to slide off one shoulder. Over a button-down Oxford cloth shirt for a preppy look. Backward with a neon Y-back tank top.
Next_Possibility_01@reddit
loved those sweaters
Mangolandia@reddit
Perfect for stirrup leggings (with paisley print!)
conspicuousmatchcut@reddit
Heck yeah! I still wear v neck sweaters backward. These were so cute
Weird-Girl-675@reddit
I have a pic of my mom in one of these from 1990!
Commercial_Use_363@reddit
I used to wear them backwards for the backless effect.
PeriwinkleWonder@reddit
Ugh. Yes. I had a roommate in college with very rich parents and she owned that sweater in every color and it was made.
suddenlynotbanned@reddit
Lordy, we all smelled like Aqua Net. I was a stoner kid, and still used it.
Main-Elevator-6908@reddit
Worn backwards was the style. And The Limited had the best barrettes.
CourageFamiliar8506@reddit
I remember this sweater😆
