I had a Honda Fit like that, 5 speed manual. I could see a careless person accidentally shifting to reverse instead of 1st.
Zyphane@reddit
How? Reverse is below 5th gear; completely opposite side of the shift pattern.
JOliverScott@reddit
Don't discuss anything to this driver/scammer then tell the officer you have video of the event if he'd like to interview the other party first. The officer will often let them dig their own grave before telling them the whole thing is on video just to watch them lose their mind that their entire scam fell apart.
CuriosTiger@reddit
It doesn't matter. They'll lose the case, but they'll just try again with someone else.
They need to be prosecuted. Jailtime. But that doesn't seem to happen.
Vaportrail@reddit
How can they try again?
SinisterPaige@reddit
Forget jail, they need to go to prison.
Wildwildleft@reddit
Driving privileges permanently revoked.
BouncingSphinx@reddit
…do you not realize how many people still drive with suspended licenses?
purdinpopo@reddit
I used to catch people driving to court, to deal with their previous suspended driving ticket.
Ich_mag_Kartoffeln@reddit
FTFY.
JOliverScott@reddit
Exactly
geneticdeadender@reddit
Get them to sign the police report of their account. That's only a misdemeanor, but it is a start.
If they ever try this scam again they'll have a record of lying.
The car probably has multiple occupants so get them to all sign their version.
East-Dot1065@reddit
Give them your insurance information before the cops show up. Don't get angry, don't argue with them, do NOT tell them about the dashcam footage, just give them the insurance info and let them commit the felony of insurance fraud, and let your insurance's lawyers handle it.
This particular video is of a truck driver being backed into. The police HAVE to come for that. As a truck driver, our company policy in this situation would be to call 911 first, give them the insurance info, stay polite, don't argue or mention the dash cam, and give them our Safety department's number and tell them they will arrange a tow if they call before leaving the scene. We then call our Safety department and STAY on the phone with them during all our interactions with both the police and the other driver. Our Safety handles insurance claims and WILL have them towed, then add that to the fraud charges.
KromatRO@reddit
Judging by car models is an old film. Maybe dash cam was a new thing then.
Crashy1620@reddit
I’ve never seen a dash cam that unfocused and dull color. Also the framing changes. It’s not a dash cam, and it’s cell phone. Or it’s AI.
East-Dot1065@reddit
You can see the "Pause [CTRL+P]" button the bottom of the computer screen. This is a phone recording of a dashcam being played on an LCD screen.
bryntrollian@reddit
I see a 2020 RAV4 though
tommior@reddit
only thing that was old-ish was that fit/jazz, rest seems like your everyday traffic, the fit included
JonnyXX@reddit
My guess is at this point, even if someone doesn’t have a dash cam, their phones will show they were reversing before the crash.
Eagle_Eyed_Gypsy1776@reddit
All those witnesses just rolling on by & not stopping to support the truck driver
Southerneagle110@reddit
Motorcycles fault
bb8c3por2d2@reddit
Not the fit!
sythingtackle@reddit
That’s you aluminium cars for you.
Randomfactoid42@reddit
Most cars are still made of steel, and the back end is designed to do that. It’s literally the “crumple zone”. And the truck isn’t going anywhere, that little car punctured the radiator.
sythingtackle@reddit
Yes I know about a crumple zone, you have no sense of humour l.
Randomfactoid42@reddit
I do have a pretty good sense of humor. Your comment didn’t sound like a joke. At all.
Firm-Tangerine-2114@reddit
Just how
WeylandTank@reddit
This is why I also have a dash cam in my car, aside from my tractor which obviously my company requires I have. I also have my camera installed into the OBD, so it records all the time even when I’m not driving. I also make sure that the car is always parked so the camera is facing the proper direction incase people hit my car. I refuse to be at the mercy of scams like this.
TheJokhar@reddit
I'm more upset that the volvo[car] saw that nonsense happen and just fucked off into the sunset.
Robjla@reddit
It depends on my mood and what kind of week or year I’m Having. But if Im not making money and you put me out of commission. You may not survive this
zerofox2046@reddit
Definitely the truck drivers fault.
IndyCarFAN27@reddit
This was such a weird clip I was confused as to what my mind just saw? Did the car actually reverse and smash into the front of the truck or was the truck travelling at a high rate of speed and couldn’t stop in time. I had to rewind and watch it a second time. Yup, the car definitely reversed at extreme speed into the front of the truck.
recloos_SH@reddit
Insurance fraud.
Strife3dx@reddit
He will still take u to court. And ur company will do a settlement for them
Lopsided-Move6309@reddit
Didn't work when I car hydroplaned into me. Their insurance had to play for the repairs. The camera showed who was at fault.
Strife3dx@reddit
We just had one of our drivers taken to court. He was not at fault, dash camera footage showed he was just driving and a car merged into him. Insurance still settled and payed the car
Thepopethroway@reddit
You should've anticipated that he'd back into you!
joepancakez@reddit
I wonder if one of those deer killer 5000 grille guards would make them think twice about doing this
Nero-Danteson@reddit
Nope. Sometimes it makes it worse.
joepancakez@reddit
That's interesting
Oldperv01069@reddit
That's aggravated assault with a deadly weapon IMHO.
Pure-Particular8942@reddit
Looks like he wanted a check
18-Spinning-Wheels@reddit
I witnessed something very similar in the Windy years ago.
SigFen@reddit
Surely the dashcam saves the driver in this instance! Right??
Lopsided-Move6309@reddit
Should, a car hydroplaned into me and it saved me, also I had witnesses though.
Playful-Excuse-272@reddit
White pickup can’t wait to tell the cops what happened…
jmzstl@reddit
White pickup is 100% in on it with how quickly they saw it and instantly moved to the shoulder.
Lopsided-Move6309@reddit
I'm not sure, usually in that case the driver abandons the vehicle and jumps into the one in front. Don't know why they do that, it's ridiculous. Will these bums just get a job like the rest of us??😂😂
Ranger7381@reddit
Looking at how close they are at the start, it might be that the red car had just bumped into the white pickup as well, then panicked and reversed into the cammer, making things worse. That would also explain why the pickup also pulls over
Not rejecting the scammer possibility, just not jumping to it either
Advanced-Sherbert-29@reddit
Or, plot twist, the white pickup tried the same trick on the red car.

Garydrgn@reddit
This comment reminds me of something that happened a couple weeks ago. I was turning left into a Walmart I was delivering to. A car was in the left turn lane in the WM's entrance. I swung plenty wide and my tandems barely touched the outside corner of the lane. The car driver panicks and flies backwards into the vehicle behind him.
And yes, I shot a text to the boss before I left about what happened in case anyone tried to call and complain. I haven't heard anything since.
Defiant-Kale-3916@reddit
I was thinking the red car bumped the white truck and then they panicked and thought to themselves that they could make it seem like the semi hit them into the white truck.
Deodorized@reddit
That takes a level of awareness that someone who just hit a slow moving pickup truck in front of them simply does not have.
Anyone capable of connecting those dots so quickly wouldn't end up in that situation in the first place.
Suhweetusername@reddit
Could be in on it. An “eyewitness” to the accident to back up the red car driver’s story.
Playful-Excuse-272@reddit
Well he can go fuck himself too…
Lopsided-Move6309@reddit
This is just stupid, the majority of truckers have dash cameras today.
Roonwogsamduff@reddit
Don't all newer vehicles have computer chips that would indicate the car was in reverse at a certain speed upon impact?
ResidentComplaint19@reddit
So many things about this video look weird.
CheekyStoat@reddit
Yeah, I honestly am not sure if it's even real.
Ur_Fav_Step-Redditor@reddit
Someone reversed into me at a red light in the turning lane. I have no trouble believing it
DrillTheThirdHole@reddit
it would have to be one helluva ai because it accurately tracked the black car in the trucks nose mirror, forward into frame
heliogoon@reddit
At first glance I thought it was AI.
thetoastmonster@reddit
Because this isn't the raw video, this is the video being played back on a monitor and then someone holding their phone aimed at the screen to make a recording. You can see the words at the bottom saying something like Press Ctrl P to pause.
UnderdevelopedFurry@reddit
Biker’s fault
OGAzdrian@reddit
Poor Honda fit 😢
Educational-Section4@reddit
How can you stop yourself from beating tf out that person after they pull over to the shoulder?
qaf0v4vc0lj6@reddit
Safety be like: "Driver should have reasonably expected an insurance scam and should have left themselves an out. Preventable."
Flavoade@reddit
“What were you doing before this that you ended up behind an insurance scammer? Maybe you were driving too fast before this.”
qaf0v4vc0lj6@reddit
"I am showing you did a short pre-trip this morning. Should you have taken your time doing your pre-trip and not have rushed it, you would not have been in that place at that time and therefore this would never have happened"
vfittipaldi@reddit
I wonder if this would have happened if the driver spoke English.
Vic_Gatsby@reddit
Lol the way yall blame everything on immigrants is astounding
vfittipaldi@reddit
Its obviously a sarcastic joke because people on here do blame accidents on immigrants
lildobe@reddit
You may have dropped this: /s
duhrun@reddit
Did someone say foreigner?
tooleeki@reddit
Pulling this stunt with this many witnesses is a new level of stupidity.
Illustrious_Egg_1837@reddit
Was the person pulling this stunt, from this country?
Ok_Assistant_6856@reddit
What makes you ask that question?
CraftsyDad@reddit
It’s usually racism
Norsedragoon@reddit
Eh it's a common scam in China and India due to the laws there, not exactly uncommon for the scammers to immigrate and take up their old ways.
Undark_@reddit
That is not true at all lmfao
launch_from_my_pad@reddit
Right, if anything this is huge in Russia lmao
Undark_@reddit
Yeah I'm not saying people don't do this - I'm not even saying it's not a popular scam amongst certain demographics... But this guy has literally just made up the thing about India and China.
GlomBastic@reddit
It looks like the back of the car is full of catalytic converters. What a bunch of fucknits
Tapcofucked@reddit
Dan Millis - “We need to talk about the preventable you had the other day. Please come to the shop so we can turn your speed down to 63”
emdefmek@reddit
I want to see the look on the cop's face when they watched the dashcam video.
GoingNutCracken@reddit
This cut off too soon. I needed to see the look on the face of the driver of that car when they realized there was a dash cam.
Esper45@reddit
man i wish we had more footage, i wanna hear that guy talk to the police and then the driver start laughing his ass off
Advanced-Sherbert-29@reddit
Insurance fraud or mixed up the pedals?
dipstickdarin38@reddit
How can you be so ignorant in this day and age to not realize that basically every semi truck on the road has a dash cam at a minimum. The truck I drive has six cameras it shows every angle. These people are absolute idiots. I hope they get what they deserve.
Jacktheforkie@reddit
Even the old shitter I drove had cameras, the slightly newer one even had a rear view camera (rigid truck)
ijklmNopqr@reddit
Isn't this really obviously AI ?
Socketz11@reddit
We need jousting poles to pop out of our grilles.
Candid_Bet9603@reddit
⁹nose that you got that on camera, go to the hospital, your neck and back is hurting, and you feel numb from your lower back to your right knee on your left leg, you just won the lotto🏆
ratzm@reddit
But your camera can!!
Ornery_Ads@reddit
My guess is they lightly rear-ended the pickup, then put it in "park" (actually reverse) to go talk to the pickup driver.
They put their foot on the "brake" (actually the gas), but the car was moving, so they pushed the "brake" even harder. It wasn't until they collided with the truck that they were forced off the gas pedal and then able to try again.
HotMinimum26@reddit
They really hit it. At least they committed
ApprehensiveMix2649@reddit
Wrong day, wrong truck
Playful-Excuse-272@reddit
Why am I just hearing this beautiful song? I don’t even go for country music but it has old John Wayne Rio Bravo vibe to it.

Good song for Phoenix too
Playful-Excuse-272@reddit
Much obliged.
stripperjnasty@reddit
What in the fuck
danielthefox2@reddit
I'd love to know what his story to the officer is.
Sfarcolacul987@reddit
I’m sure it’s the truck driver’s fault no matter what poor HR
Crazy_names@reddit
They should let you press charges for vehicular assault.
saywha1againmthrfckr@reddit
Sure it does. Even keeping distance while stopped is good. Makes for a clearer view of the fraud they are trying to commit
RealSharpNinja@reddit
No, but that camera sure can.
BDS_707@reddit
Definitely trying his luck with insurance fraud
