Left a toxic and abusive marriage and decided to fulfill my dream of being a truck driver. I've never been single for long , lived alone or been financially independent of my husband but here I am doing just fine... It's only been 5 months but I don't regret a thing!! I love my job and the freedom it affords me.

Child support brought me here

Did AAA 10+ years. Got sick of the members. Decided to go to CDL School. Now I’m back from driving city buses. Passengers suck fat dong. I’m back in a rig. I missed it.

I delivered pizzas for 4 years and thought....Yeah! I could do reefer.....u_u
hera_the_destroyer@reddit
But you can do reefer while delivering pizzas.
ZpikesZpikesZpikes@reddit
when I had 4 wheels yes. 😆

Someone finally gets it. "How could you like to suffer like that".
"I'm to stupid to see it as suffering".

Was a professional non CDL driver for close to a decade. 2020 broke my brain so I couldn’t get baked without hearing my own heart trying to crack its way out of my ribs. Once I could no longer get high, I figured I might as well put on my big boy pants.
meizhong@reddit
I don't work well with others, needed money, I like trucks, I like driving.
In that order.
poum@reddit
Almost the same except I don't particularly like trucks.
meizhong@reddit
I used to really love driving and would have put it above trucks 10 years ago, but half of people have become super aggressive on the road, the other half are on their phones. Driving has become less enjoyable.
Thin-Car5342@reddit
I haven't grown out of my childhood obsession with heavy vehicles

Same bro nothing more true than this
Virel_360@reddit
That’s how I ended up here lol

Didn't finish college, didn't finish my enlistment, didn't want to work in an Amazon warehouse for the rest of my life. Also yeah, highly retarded.
LeveledGarbage@reddit
Enrolled in college 3 times, never started, then had a kid and needed a "big boy job", am also kinda retarded.
Ich_mag_Kartoffeln@reddit
I already had my MC and it paid better than the other job options avail able to me at that time.
Few-Solution-4784@reddit

SawyerJWRBLX@reddit
Because I like trucks and the sound of a diesel engine.

The industry I was in was super profitable for 10 years before I saw the wiring on the wall. Co-owner bought me out and I dipped.

I’m third generation and I wasn’t supposed to be. My dad and grandpa told me it wasn’t an option and I was going to school. Well I hated school and loved driving. I hit 11 years as a Union driver on Wednesday and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

I’m married. Enough said

Temp aerospace job after I was laid off was only paying $9 per hour(in 2010) and I said "F this" and got my CDL. Healthwise, I feel like shit and don't want to do this anymore but I'm 54 and I don't know what else I can do. Almost too late to switch careers.
kickzupp@reddit
Got my gf pregnant with my first kid, I was a driver assistant at the time with no CDL. Realized assistant money wasn’t enough and asked my company to make me a driver. Got my CDL in 2 weeks after they approved. Drove for them for 10 years. Broken back and years I’ll never get back from my sons life. (Local overnight delivery job) decided to quit and I’m actually picking up my own dump truck this up coming Friday for my new company. Wasn’t planning on driving ever again. But man do I miss it.
yamahamama61@reddit
I put 100,000 miles on a brand new car. My husband asked if I ever thought of being a truck driver. Next week local newspaper had a ad "Do you want to be a truck driver". I called the number but was local state employment agency. They paid my school. My hotel while training an my meals. The rest is history
Fellthefox@reddit
I stuck my dick in crazy. I decided I hated people more than Ive ever realized. Took a jump, immediately signed up for school with swift on a whim instead of moving back in with my parents.
This job is the best decision Ive ever made
lleu81@reddit
I went from a dead end career and living with my parents to owning my own home and having Lego money in 4 years. Also the best decision I’ve ever made
Ninja-Storyteller@reddit
16 years in customer service being screamed at. The road is far more peaceful.
StolenRage@reddit
Honestly, I had an Uncle who was a driver. Hearing his stories made me wanna be a driver. I drove for a few years in my my 20s then had an accident and let my CDL lapse. A few years ago I was looking to turn my driving experience into a farm job and found out about a couple of grants that would pay for me to get my CDL back. I jumped on it and have been been back to driving for a little over 3 years.
Also highly regarded...
