Flavio Manzoni needs to be shot out of a cannon. He has single handedly ruined modern Ferrari style with his crusade against headlights.
leesfer@reddit
I love it, and many others do. Ferrari has never been interested in pleasing teenagers on the internet and I love that about them. They will unapologetically design exactly what they want to with a giant middle finger to the majority.
The latest Ferraris are top tier.
HoldingForGenova@reddit
Perhaps not teenagers on the internet, but they seem to primarily appeal to early 20s influencers now. Anyone I know in their 30s or 40s who's been successful enough to consider a supercar ended up with some variation of a top tier Porsche (Turbo, Turbo S, or GT3) instead. Ferraris just look childish now, and if that's what you're looking for, just go all the way into Lamborghini and fulfill your childhood poster dreams.
Actually come to think of it, I don't know anyone who owns a Ferrari newer than the 812 anymore (though I did consider a 296, but even on a short drive the steering wheel drove me fucking nuts.)
leesfer@reddit
These are not even in the same price range as a flagship Ferrari. Porsche is usually your stepping stone. I am a 30s guy who also started with the 911 but ultimately you move out of them because they aren't all that exciting. Porsches are VERY popular right now, they are the most trendy car to own currently, but the reality is that they are a very tame experience.
You clearly aren't in the same circle that I am in because Ferraris are selling like crazy here.
HoldingForGenova@reddit
I'm well aware. They are, however, in the same performance league. And most of the folks I know shopping at a Ferrari level don't see the difference between 300K and 600K when it comes to a fun vehicle. I cross-shopped a 296, Huracan, and a Turbo S, amongst a few others, and I chose the Turbo S.
Ah yes, the oh-so-exciting Purosangue. Or Roma. Or the SF90, which made 1000hp feel boring. Let's not pretend that Ferraris are exciting anymore. They're about as exciting as a Corvette these days, for many of the same reasons. The F12 was the last truly exciting/dangerous Ferrari. And I'll put my time in a GT3 above anything they're selling these days.
Clearly not. SoCal, mostly tech and entertainment. Ferraris are for children out here, but maybe your circle are badge whores, in which case ... smash that like button.
leesfer@reddit
No one buying a Ferrari is buying them based on performance comparison sheets, I promise you this.
HoldingForGenova@reddit
👍
just_dave@reddit
I am certainly not a teenager, and you are almost certainly in the minority.
To each their own, sure, but I would wager money that 50 years from now, these censored Ferraris will be some of the least desired from a collectors standpoint.
The greatest Ferraris have always been beautiful, and starting with the SF90, beauty has been a hard thing to find in Maranello.
The Roma is good, especially in person. The 296 isn't bad, but it's not poster worthy. The F80 is actually pretty cool, but obviously looks better in black where you can't see that stupid black bar.
leesfer@reddit
Quite literally what I said.
Ferrari builds their cars for the minority. They have zero interest in appealing to a broad audience. Always been this way, always will be this way.
mikolv2@reddit
As do I, people on internet make it sound like they wanted Ferrari to just make the 458 Italia over and over again and never change the thing. Times moved one. If you want a 458 or like that deign language, buy that.
Will12239@reddit
The ferrari one offs are the reason they have to tame their looks in the rest of the lineup. This is why the kc23 looks better than the f80.
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
Its not going to be everyone's cup of tea, I don't think any modern ferrari is
but I absolutely love the look of this thing, love the wing and the kevlar interior bits, & the 296 is personally one of my favorites if not my favorite modern car on sale. Though the front end is a bit diablo/countach to me
Nero_Wolff@reddit
Daytona sp3 is pretty universally liked
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
Ugliest thing they've ever made, absolutely vile car
I know it's contrarian but I genuinely despise the thing and think it's the ugliest road Ferrari since at least 1990
-etuskoe-@reddit
A bit harsh but there's definitely some weird stuff going on in the door area. It's like the designer was sculpting the clay model, fell over, hit their head, and kept going towards the rear but lost memory of the front.
jamanon99@reddit
It's certainly a love/hate type of car. I didn't like it at all until I actually saw one.
jamanon99@reddit
The Daytona looks goofy in pictures but IRL it's stunning. Luckily I've had the opportunity to see a purple one and a red one up close. Drop dead gorgeous. At the time I was getting shown a few really cool Ferraris including an F50, a Monza, and I was looking at an SF90 XX when I saw HER.....a mint F40! A boyhood dream come true (owning one is the dream but actually seeing one will do too!). I lost all interest in all the other cars. It just has so much presence. It has to be seen surrounded by so many other glorious cars to understand how special it is.
woodsides@reddit
That F40 is called the "Minty-40". It was sold for very cheap (for a F40) at Monterey last year, $1.8M.
High mileage + messy history and non factory modifications dampened the price. Absolutely love the way it looks though.
jamanon99@reddit
'Mint' means in perfect condition, like new. But thanks for that - something interesting to look up!
woodsides@reddit
It's minty as in mint green, not mint condition.
Porencephaly@reddit
Yeah but OP above wasn’t talking about the one mint green F40, they were talking about an F40 in mint condition.
jamanon99@reddit
Correct
woodsides@reddit
Yeah my bad. Thought you were talking about the mint-colored F40.
jamanon99@reddit
No worries, glad you mentioned it. It's quite a unique take on the F40 colour scheme.
woodsides@reddit
Lol my bad. I saw Monterey and mint F40 and thought that he was referring to that car.
jamanon99@reddit
https://rmsothebys.com/auctions/mo24/lots/r0157-1991-ferrari-f40-minty-forty/
It does look cool! The one I saw was in classic red, but I do like this 'minty' iteration.

Nero_Wolff@reddit
Yeah I saw a bunch of Daytona’s during Monterrey car week. They look really good. I think the LaF is still better looking the Daytona is striking while still looking great
jamanon99@reddit
Haven't had the pleasure of seeing a LaFerrari yet.
willbill642@reddit
You mean the car that has the "LaFerrari but Tesla" look?
Nero_Wolff@reddit
Tesler wishes it could look that good
Having seen a bunch in person at Monterrey car week, they look phenomenal
Randy_Magnum29@reddit
I went to a local car show about 6 weeks ago and was looking forward to seeing one in person. Disappointingly, it wasn’t there, but the same owner had a Valkyrie, Bugatti Bolide, and a Singer DLS there so I was still pretty happy.
woodsides@reddit
Blattner collection?
Randy_Magnum29@reddit
I believe so!
Puzzled_Tone_3826@reddit
Poor bastard obviously couldn't afford a Golf
Nero_Wolff@reddit
Thats quite the collection
Snuffl3s7@reddit
Never seen a Tesla with that rear.
Edgelordftwlol@reddit
I only have an issue with the rear end. Apart from that, I consider it the true LaF successor.
mikolv2@reddit
I think it looks cool but ultimately it doesn't matter, some dude paid to have a one of car made and I'm sure it looks exactly how he wanted it to look and I'm both happy and incredibly jealous
yeexuz@reddit
I understand the wing is meant to pay homage, but it really doesn’t fit with the rest of the styling
-etuskoe-@reddit
The way the back has a line that sort of pinches it in makes me so uncomfortable.
leesfer@reddit
It's not meant to. Ferrari is NOT a company that does fanfare throwbacks ever. They are always forward thinking in their design, and lately, much more forward than the internet is capable of seeing.
I think many, many people will look back at these Ferraris as very good
-etuskoe-@reddit
It looks so fuckin sad.
And what's with the black ring around the arches? Gives it crossover SUV DNA.
tamaytotomahto@reddit
Bring back Pininfarina for the love of god.
3dmontdant3s@reddit
The Mondial is Pininfarina too
-etuskoe-@reddit
The fact that it looks like a 308 drawn from memory is kinda funny
furrynoy96@reddit
Hot take: that doesn't look that bad
hockeyjmac@reddit
It looks fine but it doesn’t look like $10m and probably drives like $400k with a body kit.
BrunoEye@reddit
There doesn't exist a car that drives like $10m. At those prices you're just paying for looks, prestige, history etc.
Godvater@reddit
How much did GMA T50 cost? I think those are probably the top car in terms of paying for the driving experience. Definitely not a looker.
woodsides@reddit
About $3M. But again, the made 106 of those.
BWFTW@reddit
Decomisioned race cars like f1 cars ls prototype cars? Or 5-10 seasons ish of gt3 driving?
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
Even a 499p modificata is "only" 5.4mil + like $30k a weekend or whatever it is now for their customer corsa-clienti track day programme
The value of any one-off ferrari is in having a unique car tailored to you & your tastes only, not going to make any objective sense
Quatro_Leches@reddit
Ferrari have mastered the art of milking millionaires
RevvCats@reddit
One of the best ways to get rich, getting rich people hooked on your exclusive merchandise that their other rich friends don’t have. It’s like the watch dealer I drank with in Geneva one night told me “all we do is engrave a limited number on the case and these dumb fucks can’t give us their money fast enough”
Actually that works on non rich people too. Moral of the story, just sell limited production merchandise.
Quatro_Leches@reddit
especially with extreme wealth inequality happening worldwide, top rich people are spending more than the bottom 90%.
killshelter@reddit
Amongst their millionaire friends I’m sure it’s cooler to have a one-off Ferrari than it is to spend $10m
EnderBaggins@reddit
True, they wouldn’t be priced the way they are if the demand wasn’t there.
The_Strom784@reddit
If this were just a regular offering for a bit more than the 296 I wouldn't complain. But I'm also not their target audience.
It's a good looking car though.
ALaLaLa98@reddit
Read this comment.
Got interested.
Saw the car.
Got disappointed.
puddud4@reddit
It looks good but it doesn't look like an F40 tribute
Recoil42@reddit
"Doesn't look that bad" for $10M is uproarious.
SHORT-CIRCUT@reddit
honestly looks very clean
Always_Impressive@reddit
It certainly turns heads, and I am assuming that was the goal here lol
This looks nothing like anything else on the market
Milksteak_Sandwich@reddit
What’s with EV and hybrid vehicles having the ugliest rims possible? It would look alright without those monstrosities.
sunburstbox@reddit
optimizing aero efficiency
Whole-Scene-689@reddit
Car design industry is so cooked they cant come up with a new design that people want other than trying to rehash old ones.
Why cant they just stick the new stuff in the old body? Why not? People would love it more than this nu-f40
Captain_Alaska@reddit
It's a combination of crash requirements and a modern understanding of aerodynamics. Another large portion is upgrading things to modern performance levels, for example fitting larger wheels (the 296 runs 20in) to fit modern performance tires, fitting equally larger modern brakes, redesigning the suspension to correct for the tiny amount of suspension travel, additional cooling to fit and additionally more powerful engine, etc.
Our modern baseline of what a car should be has evolved so much since the 80s when the F40 was designed that it wouldn't really be possible to design a F40 that meets the standards of a modern car without basically redoing the whole thing anyway.
All of this is a moot point anyway, this is a custom job for a customer who paid Ferrari a shitload of money to get this car, they presumably specced it this way because they want it to be this way.
Whole-Scene-689@reddit
Didnt read all those excuses literally just do what needs to be done and put the same sheet metal on top.
Captain_Alaska@reddit
Also keep in mind if you can afford to ask Ferrari to build a one off car just for you it's more than likely you can afford to buy an F40 anyway.
Conscious_Yam6210@reddit
Wow, It's gorgeous..
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
This bit confused me: is the 296 meant to look like the 250LM? Because I have never seen that claim before, and I struggle to see the resemblance
RiftHunter4@reddit
Ferrari has the worst announcement photos of any brand. Like, if you don't want us to see it, why even bother?
RBR927@reddit
Everything forward of the front wheel is awful.
Everything behind the front wheel is beautiful.
Signal_Ball4634@reddit
The black front end accents are getting a bit much and shoehorned into these new models.
acEightyThrees@reddit
I like it the way it looks. And as someone else said, among the hundred-millionaire (or billionaire) club the owner likely belongs to, it's cooler to have a one-off Ferrari than it is to have $10M cash.
Having said all that, if you were chosen by Ferrari to have a custom car built for you, why would you choose as your base a V6 powertrain. Put a V12 in that mofo.
aprtur@reddit
Oddly, something about it comes across as a stubby Maserati MC12 to me, rather than F40. I don't hate it, but the proportions just seem strange in photos. I would guess (hope?) it has better impact in person.
doabarrelroll69@reddit
I think it's the "soft" or more round corners, I can definitely see MC12 in it.
Eggith@reddit
It looks more like an MC12.
MoirasPurpleOrb@reddit
Between the headlight design of recent Ferraris and this stupid trend of black accents that make no sense, the parallels between Ferrari and Toyota are surprising
AnnoyingRingtone@reddit
Wow, it’s gorgeous. I’d just paint match that bit by the headlights but holy moly I love this. Ferrari always nails their special project cars and then seemingly leaves the mainline cars for the interns, 296 excluded.
Oakengrad@reddit
Every one talking about how this isn't worth $10 million is not properly imagining the level of wealth the person who can go to Ferrari and order a bespoke one off directly from them. This was probably damn near free lmao
hockeyjmac@reddit
Apparently there are rumors of the sp4 being a manual turbo v8 that pays homage to the f40. It would be very funny if this is where the rumors came from.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
They're planning 20 new models in future 4 years, so that isn't a rumor, it's just about when releasing.
Edgelordftwlol@reddit
Damn. Ferrari going the Mercedes route? A car for everyone (rich)
LionSlicer13@reddit
Doesn’t look too bad besides that facepaint. But millions for a 296 is crazy
i_like_pretzels@reddit
I like the Countach remake more than this
idespisemyhondacrv@reddit
Looks kinda pretty honestly
altjacobs@reddit
Found some more pics. This thing looks so cool
stoned-autistic-dude@reddit
The lack of NACA ducts is disappointing.

Yikes. Why drag the F40 name through mud
peaked-at-7@reddit
Swing and a miss.
Tbro100@reddit
No offense to the 849, as I actually like how it looks, but this thing looks so much better damn.
argent_pixel@reddit
I know I'm literally the only person on the planet to give a shit, but Ferrari's placement of side mirrors ruins half of the design of their vehicles.
TheB1ackAdderr@reddit
White Ferrari? Did Chris Evans order this?
