Not saying that everyone should be getting into accidents all the time, but... Everyone keeps saying that OP is gonna get fired and struggle to find a new job... What happened to the driver shortage? How the hell can one small accident be such a career ender? People crash every day all over the world, that's why vehicles are insured...

OP took himself out of the pool of drivers that there's a shortage of. There's a shortage of drivers with clean driving records that are competent drivers and will show up/do the job reliably.
There is no shortage of people with a CDL that can't drive. There is no shortage of people with a CDL that are uninsurable due to their driving record. The shortage is only for the prime drivers that people want to hire.

This looks like a pretty substantial collision. The truck probably hit the Nissan with a 20+ mph difference in speed. Insurance rates are climbing every year and the freight market is weak. The sub-optimal drivers can be laid off/fired to keep the excellent employees around and busy.

OP rear ended the person in front of them. OP's only claim is that they slowed down for traffic too much, but that's no see excuse. OP created the unnecessarily dangerous situation that resulted in the collision.
This is different from something like a parking lot scrape because it was entirely avoidable by not creating the dangerous situation. Its like texting and driving; you aren't being fired because you stole company time or got a ticket, you are being fired because you create a completely unnecessary dangerous situation that could result in an entirely avoidable collision.

Rear end crashes are up there with rollovers. It's beyond one little oopsie. Insurance companies know those who rear end/tail gate do it consistently. Statistically, these types of drivers don't usually change. So the chances of another rear end is likely. 9/10 companies will fire you for a rear end crash. The other 10% might not have legit insurance

Also, it depends on how it happens. I rear-ended someone because, and get this, i split a brake valve in half. Bought a brake control valve off ebay to replace my faulty one, and it cracked when i was trying to stop in traffic. If i didn't have dash cams and if the responding officer and insurance adjuster didnt see it in person, that would have NEVER passed the insurance sniff test.

Ahhh... So it's the TYPE of accident, not that you were in an accident per se. Because that sounded ridiculous at first... Anyone can have a bad day. But yeah, I can see why rear enders and roll overs could be seen as much more avoidable and careless. Fair enough.

A man without a dashcam in a semi truck is a man without any common sense. I have had 4 accidents in my 11 years of trucking and have never been at fault for one thanks to them, and i even have posted dashcam and camera tutorials in this sub.

Please, the procrastination isn't worth your livelihood, and with half assed dash cams as low as $40 on amazon nowadays there is no excuse.

You're right, I'm just trying to save money in currently more focused on paying off the debt I currently have anything I've really made has either gone to child support or paying off debt with grocery money in a little bit of saving on the side, I will probably get a dash cam the next time I make a paycheck that has extra spending money

I’ve always said this, and many drivers have said this too:

Skeleton on the grill has always been bad luck in the CMV world. It’s fun and games on a regular personal vehicle, but it doesn’t translate to CMV. It’s so much easier to kill someone with such a large machine that it sort of brings in bad spirits having the skeleton on the grill.

You can think i’m crazy, but you just seen today how it’s bad luck. Take that skeleton off, wait until christmas, and get something christmas related.
