Maxim PDX in 300BLK with FRT???

So I'm really good at getting FRT's to work in almost everything except this new maxim I bought. It uses proprietary parts such as BCG, Buffer/ Weights and gas system. So in short I can't change the Buffer spring, cannot change the gas block to AGB. The ONLY thing I can change is the buffer weights and even then they are not the traditional weight you'd expect. Can anyone give me a recommendation on whether to go H2 (4.65oz) or H3 (4.85). Im using a RB 3 position. That's where am at because I will not be using a suppressor and will only be shooting Supers (125g) . The buffer weights are expensive and non returnable so l'd like to try to get it to work from the first time. There's a guy on YT who has a 5.56 version running suppressed with H3 and he says it's perfect. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you !!

Well, damn this was definitely my plan and if you’ve done it multiple times on other rifles and can’t get this one to work, I don’t think I’ll be able to do it on my first…

Damn your setup is hot 🥵. I ordered the H3 and some extra tungsten weights so I can mess with it if it doesn’t work. I will let you know what happens once it comes in. I’m hoping I can get it to work. It’s just it’s so proprietary that it’s hard to do much to it.

if the bcg and buffer system is anything like the honey badgers buffer system, it won't work with a cassette. if it can accept standard carbine buffers, get an adjustable weight buffer and set the weight to be the same as an H2 and work up in weight from there

So you can’t SS it but it will accept DTT 3 position which is coincidentally what I have. Yea the proprietary system really messed me up when I looked into it but it should be gtg with RB/DTT 3 pos.

What’s the bcg & buffer weight look like? I got one to run with a super safety not too long ago

I'm going to make an assumption that it's filled with the same weights as standard buffers. If you knock out the roll pin and remove the blue bit you should be left with a stack of weights in the center. You may be able to buy standalone tungsten weights from KAK and swap out the lighter ones for tungsten to tune the buffer weight without buying a bunch of buffers.

Heavier option, just pull buffer apart remove steel add tungsten

I bet vapor lock is the issue

Forgot to mention. 5.5 inch barrel again .300BLK not suppressed and shooting SuperSonics (125g). This is my first 300blk so round pressure and round specs is making it hard on me since I’m not really well versed with them.
