It don't have to be the exact same weapons on the chart. Your choice. My choice: Primary: Mossberg 590 8+1 Secondary: Springfield Armory Saint Pistol and FNX 45acp Melee Weapon: Machete My Vehicle lifted GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado. We are not going to have the exact same choices. What would you choice.
Ow_you_shot_me@reddit
Honestly the Abrams would be a great apocalypse vehicle fuel wise, I'm pretty sure it's engine can run anything liquid that burns.
astro_2077@reddit
Also loud as hell. Going to attract a gang of zombies for sure.
BeenisHat@reddit
I don't think most Redditors know how loud a tank is just driving around. Touch that main gun off and every zombie for a mile around will know you're there.
Not to mention the Abrams doesn't have an autoloader. You can't really operate it by yourself. Not that something like a T-72 with an autoloader could be operated by one person either, but its still one less thing to do.
OneOfThese_1@reddit
Only a mile?? You sure?
BeenisHat@reddit
I don't know, go find a zombie and ask.
OneOfThese_1@reddit
I’ll report back when I find one.
ZombiedudeO_o@reddit
Well considering they use jet fuel to get around, it probably wouldn’t be a good option for the average user. Let alone the fact that they breakdown a lot even when they are being maintained by military.
Ow_you_shot_me@reddit
Who pays for stuff in the apocalypse? Also there is a NG base that has abrams not to far from me, so the whole scenario is kinda viable.
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
Yeah the maintenance and parts would make the tank make no sense.
Logistics are hard enough in a normal economy with the taxpayer funding it and the army manning supply lines.
zma924@reddit
Yeah but it still burns a fuck ton of whatever fuel source you decide to use and maintenance on every other part of the vehicle is a specialized task that requires knowledge, tools, and a safe area to work on it. Plus ammo is a concern. For all the headache you’d spend trying to get your 70 ton logistical nightmare to do anything, you’d be far better off using some sort of construction equipment like a bulldozer.
definitelynotpat6969@reddit
Maybe like some kind of Killdozer
IMA_5-STAR_MAN@reddit
The problem with a tank is it's the biggest target for other survivors. As soon as you get out everyone will be after you.
Ow_you_shot_me@reddit

C, D, B, A. All assuming that the apocalypse is new, and I can still get, batteries for my flashlight.
NoOnesSaint@reddit
C,A,A,A. Never carry a gun with ridiculous ammo or low capacity. A sharp weapon is only a weapon when sharp and doesn't need gas. Anything that requires batteries is only useful until it isn't. Never take a motorcycle as a survival vehicle, they offer no protection, low range, no storage and tires will be gone in 2-10k miles. Boat and tank are a joke.
556_FMJs@reddit
Disagree on the baseball bat.
You can sharpen a machete with a piece of concrete. A machete will be much more useful than a bat.
You can cut, chop, and stab. A bat just goes bonk.
FirstAirMycology@reddit
To be fair, a machete only needs to be sub-par sharp. I bought one at a flea market years ago, supposedly from the Korean war era used to chop down “blackberry bushes”. That thing has chips throughout the blade and had been used as a digging tool — it still splits wood better than a hatchet. For real.
Neither-Warthog-7829@reddit
You can use the car window to sharpen it.
NoOnesSaint@reddit
Would prefer something a bit shorter for utility.
JB_9999@reddit
Sounds like an excuse you’ve used before.
NoOnesSaint@reddit
Sounds like you're familiar with hearing it.
BeenisHat@reddit
Machetes come in different sizes. They're also not a finely crafted blade made of some super steel. You can cut them down with a hack saw.
IamJewbaca@reddit
I mostly agree but sharpening a machete shouldn’t be too difficult, and there is a lot more utility in having a bladed tool than a bat. Gun already has an optic so not sure I’d want to grab the binoculars over even the rope. Flashlight should be good for a pretty long time as batteries are plentiful and store pretty well. By the time batteries are gone or expired (5-6 years) hopefully there would be some sort of actual survivor infrastructure set up to recharge them.
Cyberfreshman@reddit
If OP is being loosey-goosey with the rules rifles and shotgun could have weapon lights and bayonets as well, thats a whole lot of gadgets all in one.
BeenisHat@reddit
Find a hardware store you can loot and grab a mill file.
I'm guessing you'd be able to find an RV of some sort abandoned on a highway trying to get out of a city. Lots of RVs have solar panels these days. If you can get some rechargeable batteries, you can top them up with the solar panels and inverter.

Boat may be a joke for you but I live within a few miles of one of the Great Lakes. Zombies may be fast now but can they swim? Park a barge 10 miles out and you got yourself a sanctuary.
TooToughTimmy@reddit
The machete is more than just a weapon, it’s a survival tool.
NoOnesSaint@reddit
A baseball bat is more than just a weapon, it's a sporting implement.
DaBa667@reddit
But…and hear me out…motorcycles are cooler.
caucasian88@reddit
Disagree on the melee and the vehicle.
A machete is the ultimate utility tool. You can prep food, cut through brush, hack a small tree down, cut through most things, use it to cook food over a fire, etc. You can sharpen it quite easily as well. A baseball bat is just a fancy stick.
Vehicle- In a world where everything has gone to shit, you think there are going to be open roads? The highways are going to be clogged, cities jam packed, there will be no pathways. A dirtbike/motorcycle bypasses all of that. A car with glass windows offers little protection other Than from the rain.
XPapaMoonX@reddit
The flashlight is the only choice in that category. Not only for light but the right flashlight can act as a melee weapon

Desert Eagle I hope it's a 357 magnum because you're not getting a lot of capacity. 357 magnum 9 rounds, 44 magnum 8 rounds, 50 ae 7 rounds. Straight D. Shotgun is more helpful at crippling undead and in clearing buildings, crossbow you can create or find ammo easier. A sharp weapon is multifunctional for survival, same with the multi tool. A boat is safer to sleep in assuming zombies don't swim and can be used to get supplies or food from fish. C C D D C For the rugged dependability. For the suppressor. The machete will work best as an ax. For the utility. Because no matter the situation, type of zombie, or fuel level, a tank can always double as a secure base and shelter.
snuffy_bodacious@reddit
Unless you use the tank very sparingly, it will run out of fuel in a day or two and will be a very miserable shelter thereafter. A rugged vehicle that can simply get you somewhere (even just to find more fuel) is the way to go.
tbrand009@reddit
All fuel will go bad within a year anyways. Take that day with a tank to go park it somewhere you want it to be.
Konig2400@reddit

Which vehicle is impervious to zombie attacks? the tank.
Which vehicle can use a variety of fuel, including diesel (which never goes bad)? the tank. (In practice the Abrams uses jet fuel, which will be hard to find.)
Which vehicle can you comfortably sleep in? the Hummer.
Which vehicle is quieter, drawing a lot less attention? the Hummer.
Which vehicle uses a lot less fuel? the Hummer.
Which vehicle requires less maintenance? the Hummer.
Which vehicle is more practical to traverse 50+ miles to get to safety? the Hummer.

-spartacus-@reddit
The Abrams turbine can run on pretty much any fuel, the only issue you would have with a tank is over time, eventually it will probably need some work on the tracks and you are gonna need 4 strong young men who know what they are doing to take care of it.
The M1 wouldn't be a bad idea to take here because it is going to provide you a mobile safe place from zombies and will allow you to keep driving on roads where there will likely be abandoned cars, though you do run into the issue of throwing tracks or roadwheels as mentioned above.
Bigbattlegnome@reddit
The nice thing about an M1 is the wide variety of fuel you can use.
justfirfunsies@reddit
No one fucks with a tank
snuffy_bodacious@reddit
Okay. You're in a tank.
It can't move quickly, and it will run out of fuel shortly, even on idle.
You can't really get anywhere with it.
You can't sleep in it comfortably - especially if you want company.
The tank is very noisy if you run the engine, which means it will draw lots of attention.
But hey, you did a good job of getting all the zombies to pay attention to you while I drive away to somewhere safe in my Hummer with plush leather seating. If you're lucky, the zombies will quit gnawing on the hull after a few days to let you escape.
justfirfunsies@reddit
If it was an H1 maybe… but the “hummer” in the picture nah, I’m good. Gets equally shitty gas milage and that plush leather you mentioned is probably cracked and falling apart.
Armor even sitting still with the ability to shoot outweighs the shitty hummer.
I don’t need to drive around or drive far just have artillery and tracked vehicle to move short distances.
If needed I’ll siphon the fuel out of your hummer when it ultimately breaks down.
ExLap_MD@reddit
Agreed.
If I had to use my own gear:
-C) Sig M400 Tread w/ Eotech EXPS and G45 and Streamlight Protac WML, and Magpul MS1 Quick Adjust
-C) Staccato C2 w/ Rugged Obsidian 9, Steiner MPS, and Surefire X300
-D) Microtech Arbiter DLC/CF edition
-D) Leatherman Arc w/ bit kit and Ratchet
-C) closest thing I got to an Abrams tank is a KIA Minivan - the doors can slide open for quick ingress and egress and to shoot zombies while driving and there's enough space in there for shelter for my family. I'd probably Mad Max the shit out of it with metal bars and other apocalyptic shit, including a DJI Power 1000 for power with solar panels attached to the rooftop.
Hopefully my wife is with me on a Mossberg 590S with buckshot and slugs.

D .... Zombie headshots are overrated, especially if there are innocents in the background. But if you remove a zombie's leg, or pulverize its pelvic girdle, it's now got to caterpillar crawl after you, pulling itself along on its elbows. With a rifle, you can poke holes in people; with a properly stoked shotgun, you can disassemble people. The 12GA has the most ammunition flexibility for defense and for hunting both big and small game, and is available just about everywhere.
C .... The crossbow is tempting as it too is a silent weapon and great hunting/survival instrument. But trying to manufacturer your own arrows and broadheads, once you've run out or shattered yours, will eventually cause something to fail catastrophically under the strain of such a strong bow – either the arrows or the bow's limbs, maybe both, and they might take your face and eyesight with them. Arrows are great for bleeding animals out, but that's not a weakness the undead fret much about. No, the priority here has to be having a fast, handy, super quiet defensive weapon which will be massively helpful in unpleasant social encounters with the un-undead.
D .... This is more tool than weapon. I've constructed some fairly elaborate shelters and campsites with just a machete. You can build with it, process game with it, use it when building traps and fires, making tools, digging in loose soil, and yes, in a pinch, it can aid in letting someone's brain out for a walk.
D .... Functionality. Functionality is the name of the game. Everything you carry should have multiple uses to earn its spot. SAK has that in spades. You need to be able to do fine knifework. You'll need to scavenge parts and supplies, disassemble components and firearms for repair, maintenance, and cleaning. The can opener will (hopefully) get a lot of use. Even just the tweezers are worth their weight in gold when you're in the woods and every splinter and thorn in the forest have sworn a blood oath on anyone who's ever felled a tree or run a weed eater. I've used mine (though I prefer my Leatherman) for everything from making deadfalls and snares, to trimming hair, dressing birds, bypassing locks, and minor surgeries. And you could probably use it in a tight spot to buy your way out of a bad situation. It'll be worth ten Rolex watches at least.
B.... Tough choice. An SUV can be transportation, protection, pantry, and mobile shelter/HQ all in one. If you have fuel, you also have some electricity. If I brought my family along for some apocalyptic bonding time, I'm taking A. But otherwise the option to be mobile, nimble, light, have off-road capabilities, speed, low fuel demands, and simpler maintenance, that's just too much capability to pass up.
RegardedAndAcoustic@reddit
Ngl the boat is tempting because of islands, but being coastal, I can find a rowboat or kayak if I need it.

Can also be a backup club if my machete gets lost/stuck/broken, and light is invaluable 5A - all the choices suck but the H2 Hummer is the best option here because of its sheer versatility — however, it's a serious gas guzzler, so I'll dump it for a new, more efficient vehicle ASAP. Motorbike is too exposed and loud, the Abrams is just.... a stupid choice frankly, and the rubber speedboat is a very niche thing. TLDR: C C D B C
Primary:
AR15 platform rifle or Shotgun - both viable for different reasons (capacity of 90 vs big power of ~24)
I'm leaning toward the AR myself. Other options too niche/impractical.
Secondary: Surpressed pistol or Uzi style gun are both quite viable. (Noise control vs capacity being deciding factors)
I'm leaning surpressed due to noise + assuming I get something approximating a holster. Other options again too niche / impractical.
Melee: Machete - purely for utility of chopping wood or other utilitarian purposes with little consideration as an actual weapon
Gadget: Flashlight if I don't have one on my primary otherwise rope or binoculars are both viable. Binoculars for sure if boat is vehicle.
Vehicle: "Playstyle definer"
Tank - Used as a safe pretty impenetrable home base that can move a little with a few shells for dire emergencies. Would limit me geographically the most being main downside. Able to take on 1-2 people and form small unit.
Boat - Safe from zombies (assuming no ability to swim) and can move to other coastal areas by limited fuel or manual operation/drift. More vulneralerable to weather and limited to being near water (great if fresh water ehh if salt)
Hummer / Crew Cab Truck - A more balanced vehicle operation that trades safety for mobility. Far less limited to an area but more vulnerable to intrusion while still having reasonable shelter (at least while glass is intact)
Would opt for the Tank and tie between others for 2nd place. Dirtbike too niche.

C sounds like a good idea, but a grenade launcher is not only heavy but complete overkill. You'd basically never use it or find ammo for it. A and C without the GL are the same thing, just with a different barrel length and optic.
interntldelight@reddit
Good point, the grenade launcher was the only thing that made it "meh". I saw that too and thought "where the hell am I gonna find a 40mm grenade for that thing?". A is nice, but the barrel length would compromise mobility in tight areas a bit more. I suppose the SPAS would be a good option, but I've no experience with shotguns so it would do me a lot more harm than good. If the grenade launcher can detach, it's gotta go.
PandorasFlame1@reddit
The biggest thing about A is that you can still swap the upper. The SPAS would make a fuck ton of noise, but is viable. They're semi/manual, too. 12ga isn't as common as .223/5.56, but it's common. My thought is that you would want to shoot as little as possible aside from hunting so you don't end up with hordes around you 24/7.
HerbDaLine@reddit
Since I do not have to choose from the pictures choices . . .
Ruger 10\22 takedown variant with scope and suppressor. Because it is light weight, with light ammunition (so I can have a boatload of ammunition), and has a decent effective range with well placed shots.
Canik SFx Rival Darkside polymer with SRO optic and a suppressor. About 4 dozen 20 round spare magazines.
Not much of a melee weapon person so I will go with the samurai sword. It is light weight and seems to have the longest reach.
The binoculars. Gotta see what's around me.

There are only 3 acceptable answers to this question. You can either go with the AR, suppressed pistol, Samari sword, binoculars, H2 and hope to become the regional warlord and leader of the bandits. You can go full on practical with the Shotgun, bow, machete, multi tool, and boat if you want to avoid contact and not rely on fuel or maintenance. The only other acceptable answer is the Doom slayer load out where you don't give a fuck about how long gas lasts in an apocalypse because you don't plan to live long enough for the chainsaw or tank to outlast their usefulness. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Yea I’m down with 22. Carry way more ammo.
The only thing is if it’s like I am legend crazy zombies I might want more oomph. For the walking dead zombies I’m thinking a 22lr cartridge is sufficient. A suppressed 22 is the perfect zombie weapon in my mind.
Unhappy_Yoghurt_4022@reddit
I answered based on the options but if I’m allowed whatever, I’m with you. 22lr is slept on but a suppressed 22 running subs it the best
Acceptable_Koala2911@reddit
Subsonic .22lr wouldn't kill a zombie, and it has very limited range.
Unhappy_Yoghurt_4022@reddit
Believe it or not, subs can move some distance. Take CCI 40gr SV, although they are called standard velocity, they are subsonic at least at sea level. And they can certainly kill a zombie. They are going like 1080 fps. They are just on the cusp of being supersonic. And they are so plentiful that if you need a handful of them to get the job done, it’s no sweat off your back
Acceptable_Koala2911@reddit
2.6 grams going 1080 fps is nothing, that's like 140 joules of energy. You have to destroy the zombie's brain. Why risk it.

B, strapped to 5.B. in case I need to remove an obstacle or group of humans.
D, ammo is reusable and I would use it for gathering food. I would rather a compound bow.
A, bats don't get stuck in walking corpses. B and D will eventually get you killed when you get it stuck in a spine. to be honest, I would prefer something smaller like a collapsible baton. I want something light that can kill easily with a single strike to the head that I can wield indoors. this is more for clearing houses looking for food. any chunk of metal or wood will work. just look at D&D. crushing weapons give bonus damage to zombies for a reason.
D, see MacGyver. that said, a Leatherman Surge has most of the tools I need for survival.
B, but an F800 or F900 GSA. 10-gallon tank, 60mpg+, quiet, easy to maneuver, can carry a lot of gear. the reason I won't take cars, they are either easy for a mob to break into, easy to get stuck, or if you get surrounded, you have the choice to either starve or get eaten. there is no significant benefit in those, and the bike can take you anywhere while making it easier to escape without drawing attention. if you drive into an area with barriers or a bunch of cars; the bike can maneuver between them where a car will get you trapped. you can wear armor to make it almost as safe as a car. I basically wear that armor anyway when riding, I would just upgrade it with a plate carrier and neck guard.

The dirt bike has the best fuel economy. And yes most fuel will go bad after a year or so, but that's why you stock some jerry cans with a bit of fuel stabilizer.

a.c.d.d.a - truthfully i think i would prefer an EV. Making gasoline is neigh impossible and most of the gasoline will be trapped underground pretty quickly in gas station tanks. If i just find a nice house with solar i can charge the vehicle for 20+ years as long as the panels arent ever destroyed. I could also slowly build a self sufficient compound far from society hot zones and manage my own transportation and energy needs. Even diesel would require me to invest heavily into making it and would provide limited additional energy as it would be so loud zombies would hear it for miles.

Esc1221@reddit
In numerical order: A or C, to not be outgunned by other survivors. Ammo not to be wasted on zombies.
D, crossbow is quieter than a suppressed 9mm, though still louder than you might think. Easier to reuse ammo and possibly manufacture my own in bulk. I'd prefer an old fashioned recurve just because it will be easier to replace the string. And less parts that could fail over time.
D, machete is a multi use tool to craft other things. Can use the machete to chop out hundreds of clubs that compare to the baseball bat. A hatchet would also be even better.
D, Swiss army knife again has lots of uses and can make repairs on other equipment selected.
D, Boat can still function with sail or paddles after gas gone. Gas goes bad pretty quick, so you wouldn't see a lot of motors working after 6 months to a year. If you run bad gas through them, you will have a done of gunk build up. The boat pictured can also be flipped over as a makeshift rainproof shelter in about a minute. Can also avoid most zombies and people by going out on the water, so it's a relatively safe place to sleep.

Ar and suppressed pistol will take care of most threats while conserving ammo. You can always find more tools, but you can’t find light. Ok, now this is a real shitty to say, but go with me on this... zombie apocalypse. Breakdown of humanity. All ethics go out the window. Zombies are zombies, so pretty much anything you can do will take them down so long as you smash the brain (in theory), so the real threat is not from the zombies, but from other people who have reached the brink of desperation. That being stated...
